Nicolas Cage’s son Weston, 33, was arrested for allegedly abusing his mother during a mental health crisis.
Weston was arrested in Los Angeles on Wednesday, just weeks after his mother, actress Christina Fulton, 57, was spotted with severe bruising to her face.
The 33-year-old, who is also an actor, was released around 10 a.m. on $15,000 bail. The American Sun reported that his father would be the one to post bail for him.
“The family knew this was going to happen, but of course it’s a big shock,” a source close to the family told the newspaper.
The fight between Weston and Fulton took place on April 28 in the Los Angeles area, where a verbal dispute turned into a physical confrontation.

An ambulance was reportedly sent to the home to examine Fulton, but she did not want to go to the hospital.
According to investigators, Weston was already gone by the time police arrived on the scene. Police will determine whether the case will be considered assault.
According to sources, Fulton tried to comfort her son, who was struggling with emotional problems.
She denies that the two had an argument and has asked for privacy in the matter.
