Nick Carter is currently on the road solo. On Tuesday, September 24th, he kicked off the final leg of the #WhoIAmTour and his search for #WhoIAmNewArtist in Cleveland, Ohio.
Before the show, the Backstreet Boys star shared the news on his Instagram page that he had found one of his Who Am I New Artists working at a coffee shop who also happened to be performing.
It turns out Carter had a special bond with Jordan Tellez after he helped make his visit to the store an enjoyable experience while they ate and drank on Tuesday, the day before his performance.
After chatting over coffee, Carter spotted the employee catering his party and asked him to enter his contest and open for his show later that evening.
“The #WhoIAmTour kicks off TONIGHT in Cleveland! I decided to take my search for #WhoIAmNewArtist to the streets where I met @_jordan_tellez_ for breakfast this morning,” the As Long As You Love Me star wrote in the caption of his Instagram post.
Nick Carter, 44, found a barista at a Cleveland-area coffee shop to open for his solo performance Tuesday as part of his Who Am I tour and #WhoIAmNewArtist
Carter added: “You never know where incredible talent is hiding. I can’t wait to see Jordan open tonight at MGM Northfield Park!”
The Jamestown, New York native, who will soon release his fourth solo album, Who I Am, told the story of the impression Tellez made on him, his personality, work ethic and the music he played for him.
Tellez played him a song from Spotify called 93 Degrees. The Backstreet Boys singer gave him a thumbs up.
The rising musician shared that he is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan and moved to the Cleveland area about five years ago.
During the conversation in the clip, Tellez was asked what he sounds like. He quickly revealed how he’s been inspired over the years by The Chainsmokers, a New York City electronic DJ and production duo consisting of Alexander “Alex” Pall and Andrew “Drew” Taggart.
Ultimately, Tellez was offered the opportunity to sing two songs as the opening act for Nick Carter’s show at the MGM Northfield Park in Northfield, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland on Tuesday.
