NFL Draft 2024: Taylor Swift approves of the Chiefs picking Xavier Worthy as Travis Kelce’s girlfriend likes a video of Kansas City’s new star being selected

Taylor Swift approved the Kansas City Chiefs’ decision to select Texas receiver Xavier Worthy in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday evening.

The pop sensation — and Travis Kelce’s girlfriend — has become an avid Chiefs fan in recent months thanks to her high-profile relationship with the three-time Super Bowl winner.

And it appears she’s keeping a close eye on Chiefs coach Andy Reid’s preparations for next season, especially which students he recruits.

That’s because Swift liked an Instagram post from the Chiefs of Worthy and his family celebrating the moment he was picked by Kansas City.

Worthy was not in Detroit, but was at home with a large group of family and friends, who went crazy when his name was called.

Worthy was all smiles and quickly donned a Chiefs hat before hugging his loved ones.

Ecstatic Chiefs fans celebrated the selection by jokingly telling Swift to “move over” for their new recruit – weeks after he set the 40-yard dash record at 4.21 seconds at the NFL Combine

Worthy’s speed means he looks like a formidable addition to Patrick Mahomes and Kelce, and the team caused a frenzy on social media by sharing his record-breaking 40-yard dash from the NFL Combine.

Worthy shot a stunning 4.21 seconds at the NFL Combine while in Texas.

Chiefs fans couldn’t wait to welcome Worthy to Kansas City, commenting on the post: “Kid breaks record and gets Super Bowl ring in his first season.”

Another couldn’t resist making a reference to Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift: “Go ahead, Taylor. There’s another Swift coming!’

The Chiefs were scheduled to pick last in the first round after winning their second straight Super Bowl and third in five years, but they managed to trade with one of their biggest AFC rivals.

The Chiefs sent the 32nd pick along with a fourth-rounder and a seventh-rounder to the Bills for No. 28, a fourth-rounder and a seventh-rounder.

It meant Andy Reid could hand Mahomes a potential gem in Worthy, a speedy, deep threat they’ve missed since Tyreek Hill left.

Worthy is more than just a big threat. He showed promise as a route runner and cut down on drops last season, when he caught 75 passes for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns.

“Listen, I like the wide receivers we have,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, “but adding someone of this quality is important or a good move to strengthen him. I don’t want to belittle the guys we have, but he’s a nice addition.”

“We told Patrick,” Reid said, smiling. ‘Patrick is curious. He loves this stuff. It doesn’t matter if it’s attack or defense. He just loves the design. He texts us and we get back to him. He’s great with it.

‘It doesn’t hurt to have speed on the field. We’ve operated on the field without the big speed and done well, but when you have the opportunity to find someone who you think is a good player, you should probably take advantage of it.”

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year with a patchwork receiver corps, and they were already looking for help before second-year pro Rashee Rice — their biggest breakout star of last season — became embroiled in legal troubles in Texas.

Dallas police allege Rice was driving a Lamborghini at more than 100 miles per hour when he and a friend, who was driving a Corvette, lost control and started a chain reaction crash that injured several people.

Rice left the scene without seeing if anyone was injured, but turned himself in when police issued warrants for his arrest. Rice has been released on bail and Reid has said he will continue to participate in the Chiefs’ offseason program as the legal situation develops.

The Chiefs signed Hollywood Brown in free agency, and Travis Kelce has been as productive as any wide receiver.

But otherwise, the Chiefs had to enter the summer with Justin Watson, the drop-prone Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore, and journeymen like Montrell Washington filling out the receiver corps.
