Newport County have closed their ticket office ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Manchester United due to ‘appalling abuse and threatening behaviour’ towards staff.
Tickets for the biggest match in the Welsh club’s history are in huge demand after Newport installed temporary seating in Rodney Parade to increase capacity to 9,000.
But the League Two team closed their ticket office on Monday and announced remaining sales would take place online due to fans’ behavior towards staff members.

A club statement read: ‘Newport County would like to confirm that the ticket office will be CLOSED on Monday for the general sale of tickets for next Sunday’s FA Cup match against Manchester United. All remaining tickets can be purchased ONLINE ONLY from 10am.
‘Unfortunately, this decision has been taken following the appalling abuse and threatening behavior suffered by the ticket office and support staff during the priority purchasing period on Thursday.
‘The club will not condone this behavior towards any member of its staff and will have a zero-tolerance policy in the future which could lead to stadium bans or legal action.

‘The club’s small workforce has worked extremely hard in recent weeks to organize the two sell-out matches against Wrexham and Manchester United. The club would like to thank them for their efforts and involvement.’
Newport expect to rake in around £400,000 from the glamor match after beating non-league Eastleigh in a third round replay.
