Red, white and Biden blues: Shocking new poll shows only 31% of Americans ‘trust’ the government – down 15% since Joe took office

Confidence in the US government has hit an all-time low of 31%, a new Gallup poll shows just in time for Independence Day.
Of the G7 countries — seven of the world’s top economies — the United States is at the bottom when Americans were asked if they have confidence in the government led by President Joe Biden.
Second from bottom was the United Kingdom, led by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, with 33% Gallup survey found.
It is a stark reversal of fortunes for both countries.
When Gallup began measuring confidence in government – when President George W. Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair were in office – the US and UK led the other G7 countries – Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Italy.
In the latest survey, released Monday, Germany tops the list with 61% of its citizens trusting the government, followed by Canada at 51%, France at 46%, Japan at 43% and Italy at 41%.
Gallup has found that public trust in the government in the United States has plummeted.
In 2020, nearly half (46%) of American adults expressed confidence in their government.
But after President Biden took office, confidence in the government fell to 40% in 2021 and again to 31% in 2022.
Biden’s own approval rating has fluctuated in the low 40s as the United States has seen high inflation that has driven up the price of gas and food. Inflation is slowly falling from a high of 9% to 4% last month, although it is still below the Federal Reserve’s 2% target.
Americans are dissatisfied with the state of the economy.
A poll by the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research last week found that only 34% of Americans approve of Biden’s economic leadership — a number that was even lower than his 41% approval rating.

Across the pond, Britain has seen its fair share of controversies, including Brexit, the ‘Partygate’ scandal and frequent changes among its prime ministers.
As of 2019, the UK has had four prime ministers in as many years.
Meanwhile, the president, along with his wife Jill, will spend Fourth of July at the White House.
They host military families on the South Lawn for a barbecue and to watch the fireworks.
Grammy winners Ne-Yo and Brothers Osborne will perform, along with artist DJ D-Nice.
The Bidens will watch the fireworks over the National Mall with them.
