The Bucks will take on the Knicks as part of the newly designed NBA regular season tournament, which combines the 82-game regular season with group and knockout stages.
Every Tuesday and Friday in November (except next Tuesday, when there are no games to commemorate Election Day) is designated as tournament night. All matches on the program that evening are tournament matches.
There are six groups of five teams; teams play the other four teams in their group once. The six group winners will reach the quarter-finals, as will a pair of wildcard teams – the two best second places from the groups.
The quarter-finals are on December 4 and 5 with higher placements; the semifinals are on December 7 in Las Vegas and the title game is on December 9 in Las Vegas.
There are 14 teams that will begin play on Friday and 13 teams will have their first tournament games on November 10. Orlando and Atlanta don’t start their tournament schedules until November 14, and Toronto doesn’t make its tournament debut until November 17.
The 22 teams that do not reach the quarterfinals will play the yet-to-be-scheduled regular season games on December 6 and 8. Also on the Dec. 8 schedule: regular-season games between the teams that lose quarterfinal games.
