Native American woman claims Nathan Chasing Horse groomed and raped her from the age of 14

A Native American woman claims Nathan Chasing Horse abused her from the age of 14, allegedly raping her to ‘pay the price’ for him to ‘cure’ her mother of cancer.

Corena Leone called the actor a ‘predator’ who demanded that he give up his virginity and the life of his firstborn to help his mother, who had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

He has since been arrested for allegedly running a cult that sexually abused indigenous youth at his Las Vegas home, which he is said to share with five wives, though it is unclear if Corena is party to those allegations.

Chasing Horse, real name Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse, is accused of being the leader of a cult called ‘The Circle’ and has been charged with sex trafficking, sexual assault of a child under 16 and child abuse.

The 46-year-old Native American played Smiles a Lot in the 1990 Oscar-winning film Dances With Wolves and was arrested as part of a months-long investigation.

He was well known to the tribes as a ‘medicine man’ or ‘holy person’, and those roles were highly prized within Native American spiritual traditions and belief systems.

Corena, who posted her claims online in September, says she called Chasing Horse and other men ‘grandpa’, and was told by the actor that she had to ‘give up’ her virginity to help her mother.

She said: ‘At the time I didn’t recognize what happened for what it was. And I was proud to help my mom. And I didn’t expect it to happen again, I thought it was a one time thing.

‘But it kept happening. On the road alone with him and his helpers. And at first he would get a room for his assistants and another for us with two beds.

‘He would either sneak into my bed or make me go to his bed and the rape would continue.

Then it stopped being two beds and became just one in the room. I do not remember much. I only know that things happened every night and there were several times that he recorded himself raping me.

And I would take pictures and all I could do was stand there. I felt like I had to do it or my mom would die.’

She said that she felt she was “falling in love” with the actor and that she wanted to be his wife when he finally returned to his mother.

Corena added that he told her it was a “sacred secret” between him, her grandparents and her, and many women spoke at the time about the abuse.

The alleged cult leader eventually convinced Corena and her mother to move to Las Vegas, where they lived with him until he moved them into an apartment.

He would tell his mother that he wanted to be with her, but that could only happen when she turned 16, due to Nevada’s age of consent.

Corena claims that Chasing Horse then started calling her his wife and forbade her from talking to other men, moving her into his house when she was 18 years old.

She claims he was initially “verbally abused” and blamed women for his actions before he allegedly physically abused their wives, which he saw as “discipline”.

The actor reportedly told her “if you can’t pretend to be happy, then stay home,” which led to several suicide attempts.

Corena was then allowed to live with her mother for a year, after she tried to confront Chasing Horse, claiming that other wives had tried to leave him.

She added: ‘At thanksgiving, I started telling the girls one by one that I was planning to leave. And then at the end of that month she had told him and I left.

And to this day they still have all the items I bought in my name and refuse to return it so I can remove it from my credit. And also refuse to pay the debt that he accumulated in my name.

“He made me drop out of school when I was 14 for a ceremony so now I have to work and go back to school and everything else because he didn’t take responsibility for his actions.

“Since I left, I have spoken with other victims whose story is very similar to mine.

“Now they themselves are expecting a child, and I speak about the preservation of women and girls and the prevention of future victims.”

Las Vegas police have identified at least six alleged victims, with claims dating back to the early 2000s in several states, including Montana, South Dakota and Nevada.

He was born on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota, which is home to the Sicangu Sioux, one of the seven tribes of the Lakota nation.

Chasing Horse was arrested at his home in North Las Vegas Tuesday night, where SWAT officers swooped in and detectives searched the property.

The actor was reportedly evicted from the Fort Peck Reservation in Poplar, Montana in 2015 amid allegations of human trafficking.

Court records show his bond was set at a total of $45,000 and he will appear in court Friday on various charges.
