A British woman was found dead on a beach in India's popular tourist destination Goa today.
The 46-year-old was found on the beach at Agonda, near Canacona town, in south Goa, with no external injuries on her body, police said.
The local police have registered the case and the Briton's body has been sent to the district hospital in south Goa's Margao town for post-mortem examination.
A group of locals were walking along Agonda beach, north of Canacona, when they found the body of the British woman on the ground, local media reported.
Panicked locals called the police and the woman's body was sent to hospital for post-mortem examination as her death in Goa, one of India's top tourist destinations, was shrouded in mystery.

Despite local speculation, a senior police official said: “Her friends do not suspect foul play.”
Police said her decomposed body was found near Canacona, close to the picturesque beaches in Palolem and Patnem that are popular with backpackers.
The British woman was living in a rented house in Agonda at the time of her death.
