My sister’s furious at me for ‘stealing her spotlight’ because I had medical emergency during her wedding

A new mum has revealed her sister accused her of ‘stealing the spotlight’ after she was rushed to hospital during her sibling’s wedding.

The unnamed woman took to Reddit to explain that her sister recently tied the knot in a lavish wedding.

In a thread titled, Am I the hole?she said that even though she was 38 weeks pregnant, her doctor had given her permission to attend her sister’s wedding.

The start of the ceremony went smoothly, but things quickly turned sour when she started having cramps.

Soon the expectant mother started bleeding and had to be rushed to the emergency room.

Naturally, many of her family members followed to make sure everything was okay, as doctors revealed she would have to undergo an emergency C-section.

Fortunately, the woman was fine and gave birth to a healthy baby.

However, her relationship with her sister took a hit as her sibling was ‘furious’ at her for attracting everyone’s attention with her medical emergency.

The post was captioned: ‘Am I the asshole for ‘stealing’ my sister’s wedding spot with my emergency C-section?’

She explained, “Last weekend my younger sister got married. It was a huge event – over 200 guests, a fancy venue, the proceedings.

‘My husband and I were present, even though I was 38 weeks pregnant.

“I felt fine, and my doctor cleared me to go as long as I stayed close to home and didn’t overexert myself.

‘During the reception I got some cramps. I thought it was just Braxton Hicks contractions, so I tried to ignore them and focus on the party.

‘About an hour later the cramps got worse and I started bleeding.

‘My husband and I quickly excused ourselves and went to the hospital.

‘Long story short, I ended up needing an emergency C-section to deliver my son. Fortunately, everything went well and our baby is healthy and safe.’

The bride seemingly had no regard for her sister’s health and was left fuming as her family members left her special day to go to the hospital.

‘The problem? My sister is furious with me. “She claims I ‘ruined her big day’ because several family members left the wedding early to come to the hospital, including our parents, who understandably wanted to make sure I was okay,” the new mom continued.

‘She says I ‘should have waited until after the wedding’ to go to the hospital, or at least not told anyone what was going on until the next day so the attention could stay on her.

“I apologized for the timing, but I reminded her that this was a medical emergency, and that I had not exactly chosen for this to happen during her wedding.

“My mother and father are on my side, but some of her friends and even some relatives say I am selfish and could have handled the situation differently.”

At the end of the post, she wondered if she had been wrong for going to the hospital.

She said: ‘My sister hasn’t spoken to me since, and now I’m wondering if I really did something wrong.

“Not much of a hole but your sister sure is,” another user added.

A fourth person commented: ‘Is she stupid? Does she know how pregnancy and childbirth work?’
