Mum left furious after daycare worker cuts her five-year-old daughter’s hair without permission
Mother left in a boil after her baby came back from daycare with her first haircut: “The teacher didn’t like it for long”
- Five-year-old got her hair cut at daycare
- Mum is ‘furious’ because the child had never been to the hairdresser
A mother is furious after noticing her daughter’s hair had been cut by one of her daycare instructors.
The anonymous woman said she had never cut her five-year-old’s hair, but thought it looked like an adult had cut it.
“My five-year-old daughter came home from daycare with her hair cut — it looks like someone (an adult) cut her hair,” the mother said in a Facebook post.
“We haven’t cut her hair (since birth) and it’s very upsetting to us to see someone do this to her.”
In an attempt to find out who the mysterious hairdresser was she asked her child what had happened and was told that another child had cut her locks when she was not looking and one of the nursery staff said her hair was not in would get confused if it did. shorter.
She suspects she knows which teacher was behind the cuts and does not want to raise the matter with her manager in case the woman loses her job, but is “furious” about the situation.
Other moms were quick to agree, saying it would be “outrageous” for a caregiver to cut a child’s hair without asking their parents, but some warned she should know the whole story before getting mad.

She asked her daughter if someone had cut her locks and was told she was talking to a friend when she saw her lying on the floor but didn’t know where it came from.
“It looks like she was distracted and someone cut her hair from behind,” the mother speculated.
“A few days ago, one of her daycare instructors told her that if you cut your hair a little bit, it won’t get messed up — that’s what (my daughter) told me.”
The mother said she thinks she knows “exactly” which of the daycare workers was responsible for cutting the child’s hair, but would not complain for fear of losing her job.
“I definitely wouldn’t like to see that, but at the same time, I don’t want this to happen again,” she said.
She asked if other parents had a similar experience and for advice on how to handle the situation.

Dozens agreed with the mother that they too would be “furious” if someone cut their child’s hair without their knowledge or consent.
“I would be furious if this happened to my child. I’m sure there would be cameras and I would ask to see the footage,” said one woman.
“Where others say it was done by another child, this in itself is a big deal, as is where did the child have access to scissors sharp enough to cut hair and was left unattended long enough to cut the hair of to cut another child?’ she continued.
“If an educator did this, they deserve to lose their job. If in any way, shape or form they feel it’s right, they need retraining!”
Another mother said, “Ruin their feelings, that’s your child, they have no right to take it upon themselves to cut your daughter’s hair.” I would be polite but very firm about how unacceptable this is.”
Some said the act was “unacceptable” on the part of the daycare, another said it was “100 percent not okay” and some even said the situation counted as “sexual assault.”
“Who the hell has the right to cut someone else’s hair without permission? I have three girls and if someone ever touched my children’s hair without permission I would literally get my hair cut and attack their hair!’ added an irate mother.
“She absolutely MUST lose that job and learn how to respect another human being’s autonomy and always ask for PERMISSION! Wow, just wow!’ said a second.
Others thought it prudent to read the full story rather than jumping to conclusions.
“I agree that you need to see both sides of the story. Don’t get into guns, just ask the question. I would also go tomorrow, because if there are cameras, they may not be able to keep the footage for long,’ someone replied.
“Some things may have happened like them for glue in her hair etc and they may have tried to fix the situation – you can’t really hide a haircut,” said another.
“At the very least when you get your explanation, ask them in the future if something like this happens, you should be contacted first.”
