A mom has outraged thousands by wearing an $8,000 white wedding dress to her daughter’s wedding.
The dress was put up for sale on the Facebook marketplace right after the wedding, labeled as “mother of the bride evening dress.”
Photos of the dress from Norma and Lily Couture revealed a fitted bodice along with intricate lace detailing and a train.
Many were baffled by the blatant disrespect for the bride, but others said the off-white design is typical for Lebanese mothers to wear to their child’s wedding.
The mother also poses next to her daughter in a bright white dress in the photos.

The photos were reposted to a popular wedding shaming group.
$8,000 mother of the bride dress. . .’ read the caption. “Ma’am, that’s a wedding dress.”
Many were immediately shocked by the sight.
“Oh god it has a train too,” one wrote.
“I thought for sure this was a wedding dress. Yuck!’ said another.
A third was shocked by the price: ‘8,000 dollars?! Oh, did all that brutality cost extra?’
“You just know she was shopping for wedding dresses with her daughter and saw this dress, and immediately bought it before anyone could stop her,” a fourth speculated.
Another wrote, “She shouldn’t be at my wedding, I don’t care who she is.”
“My daughter would have killed me if I bought that for her wedding,” one mother revealed.

Some rushed to defend the woman and explained the cultural tradition.
“It is very common for Lebanese mothers to wear such white dresses to their daughter’s wedding,” said one woman.
She added, “Norma and Lily are some of the best Lebanese designers in the business – I’m surprised she only paid $8,000 for this.”
A second shared, “This is a cultural thing in Lebanon. I have only attended one Lebanese wedding and I was shocked to see the mother of the bride in a white dress. Where I come from, that’s asking for a bridesmaid’s strategic red wine stain.”
“It’s the same with Thai weddings,” revealed another. “I was shocked when my stepmother wore white — until I realized the groom’s mother followed a similar custom.”
