A Georgia father was sentenced to 50 years in prison after mixing antifreeze into his 18-day-old daughter’s breast milk to poison her.

Curtis Jack was arrested in October 2020 after his daughter, named Madison, became ill.

She tested positive for ethylene glycol, a chemical found in antifreeze.

Investigators discovered that Jack had collected bottles of breast milk from the child’s mother two weeks earlier while she was in the hospital after giving birth to their child, but that he would not pay child support after accidentally impregnating his co-worker.

‘After the child delivered the breast milk to the child’s grandmother, who was also caring for the woman’s other daughter, the child became seriously ill within 24 hours, probably poisoned.

Within 24 hours of drinking the milk, baby Madison became seriously ill and was suspected of poisoning

“Jack admitted to South Fulton Police detectives that he added antifreeze to breast milk,” police said in a statement on social media.

Jack later admitted that he added the chemical to his newborn daughter’s milk to avoid having to pay child support.

Within 24 hours of drinking the milk, the baby girl became ‘seriously ill’ and was suspected of poisoning.

The newborn’s mother told police how Curtis had tried to get her to terminate the pregnancy for the entirety.

The baby was born in September 2020. The two had been in an “intimate relationship” since January of that year, police said.

“At trial, the state presented testimony from the child’s mother, grandmother, law enforcement officials and medical experts, including a demonstration of how easy it was to poison the breast milk,” South Fulton police said.

“It hit us because it was an 18-day-old baby,” said South Fulton Police Sergeant Pserda Dickerson. Channel 2.

“It hit us because it was an 18-day-old baby,” South Fulton Police Sergeant Pserda Dickerson told Channel 2

“It goes beyond just getting a confession, we still have to prove that someone committed the crime. You still have to prove the person is guilty,” Dickerson said.

The jury found Jack guilty on all counts, including attempted murder, and he was sentenced to 50 years, with 40 years in custody.

Even when consumed in small amounts, antifreeze is extremely toxic and can cause drowsiness, vomiting, kidney damage and death.

The child’s mother declined to make a statement following Jack’s sentencing, but the little girl is reportedly doing well.
