A young Florida woman who fled police arrest in her Tesla begged police to let her father — who she said “owns an island” — come and rescue her.
Stephanie Bloodworth, then 24, was stopped in February 2022 for speeding in a Tesla on her Florida island because the officer suspected she might be driving under the influence.
Bloodworth, who studied at the Parsons School of Design in New York City, was caught on dashcam when she was initially stopped after police received a reckless driving report on North Bahama Drive in Duck Key, Florida.
She “refused to comply” with the arrest, the officer said, and is heard telling the officer, “I own this island” as she got behind the wheel and drove away.
A female officer arrived on the scene to assist with the arrest and together they attempted to restrain Bloodworth as she kicked and screamed while sobbing on the phone with her father.

The female officer told the spoiled girl, “This is what happens when you run and then kick,” as the girl lies face down on the ground sobbing.
Bloodworth replied, “Can I call my father? He owns an island.”
She has repeatedly been heard telling police that they need to talk to her father because they are on “his property.” She said, “I need my dad here before you hurt me,” to which the officer replied, “No, that’s not how this works, you’re 24 years old.”
Duck Key – the island that Bloodworth claimed her father owned – is a small remote island and unincorporated community in Monroe County, Florida, in the middle of the Florida Keys, with a population of approximately 750.
When her father finally arrived on the scene, he said, “Stephanie, you need to calm down,” and told her it happened because she had been drinking and speeding.
He told his daughter: ‘The way you acted has put you in a deep hole and now they are going to take you to prison.’
Mr Bloodworth said: ‘I can’t do anything. I’ll go there and see you as soon as I can. But you can’t start acting, it will only get worse.’
One of the officers told her father, “I’m so glad she didn’t kill anyone.” It’s a blessing in disguise.’
