A bizarre video shows the moment a ‘Formula One’ car was spotted driving down a motorway in the Czech Republic.

The racing car with Ferrari livery was filmed speeding along a highway which runs out of Prague in the Czech Republic to the German border.

The vehicle appears to be a GP2 car and was decked out in the livery of the famous Ferrari F2004 model which was used by F1 legend Michael Schumacher when he won the world driver’s championship in the 2004 season.

GP2 cars raced in the feeder competition that is one rung below Formula One, the pinnacle of the sport.

The cars share many features with F1 cars but don’t make as much power and aren’t as expensive and complex.

It is illegal to drive such cars on motorways in Europe – and amazingly, this isn’t the first time this has happened.

A strikingly similar incident occurred in September 2019 when a seemingly identical car was sighted being driven on the same stretch of road.

It’s reported that police tracked down the owner of the vehicle at the time, but the man denied he was behind the wheel – and because he was wearing a race helmet and couldn’t be positively identified, no charges could be laid against him.

F1 fans had a field day with the images once they started to spread like wildfire on social media.

Some joked that the mystery driver might have been former racer Kimi Raikkonen – who raced with number seven. Others joked that, being a Ferrari, it will probably break down after the Italian F1 team’s widely publicised struggles with reliability this season.

‘That is incredible! Hats off (or helmet in this case) to that guy haha,’ wrote one Twitter user.

‘If I was the cops I’d pull him over just to check out the car. And then let him go!’ wrote another.
