Mom-of-three, 45, makes up to $735,000 A YEAR from her Poshmark business

A mother of three has revealed that she earns up to $735,000 a year through her online resale business.

Monette Mejia, of Houston, was a stay-at-home mom until 2015 when her family needed extra income to supplement her husband’s wages.

She started selling her own clothes on the social trading marketplace Poshmark before developing the business into a thriving business.

The 45-year-old is now raking in thousands of dollars by selling new and used clothes, housewares, toys and more through social media – while encouraging others to do the same.

Monette said 2015 had been a “very difficult time” and the family was now left behind and knew “where [they were] going to eat.’

Her sister introduced her to Poshmark, where she began selling clothes from her own closet.

The first sale was a dress that sold just 11 hours after posting for $36 and the money kept trickling in.

But a short time later, the family’s finances took another hit when Monette’s husband spent 44 days in ICU.

He had to undergo open-heart surgery and was unable to work.

The mother of three became the sole earner and so decided it was time to step up her efforts.

She branched out to other resale platforms and, according to Insiderthe $100 to $200 a week she had been making turned into $1,000 a week – which works out to $52,000 a year.

But after seeing the potential, Monette took it even further and soon moved on to TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook — as well as selling through live streams she hosted three times a week.

And as her following grew, brands like Torrid and Target offered her lucrative contracts that then paid her to wear and promote their clothes on social media.

It meant she earned $735,000 from her efforts in 2021 alone.

Most of her inventory now comes from bulk orders purchased at a discounted price from several other suppliers.

Her husband is healthy again, but instead of returning to his working job, he is now helping her run her business.

The couple has since been able to purchase a six-bedroom home and have sent two of their children to college without a student loan.

Speaking of her venture, she told the publication, “When I talk about everything we’ve been through, I’m still shocked at where we came from to now.”

And while giving advice to others, she said, “A lot of people see where I am now. And they say, “Oh, I want to do that right now.”

“Yes, it’s going to happen eventually, but it’s not going to happen just like that. So I would say don’t give up and just keep listing, keep sharing your closet, be consistent.’

She concluded: ‘We love what we do and the only way to keep growing is to work.’
