‘He is doing well. He’s not young anymore, he’s 80 years old, and I think I’ll do worse things than that by the time I’m 80, I don’t have far to go,” Russell said live on air.

The alarming episode was the latest in a series of increasingly bizarre antics from Meldrum, who has been a mainstay on Australian TV for decades and friends with some of music’s biggest names.

Entertainment commentator Peter Ford expressed concern that the TV legend has not been adequately supervised since he fell off a ladder in 2011 and suffered a head injury.
