Chris Sutton says Moises Caicedo’s social media post asking Brighton to let him leave the club before the January transfer window closes was “completely stupid”.
Caicedo took to Instagram to tell Brighton that he wanted to ‘take advantage’ of the ‘magnificent opportunity’ presented to him by the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.
The 21-year-old said he was “grateful” to Brighton but decided to take matters into his own hands after the Seagulls turned down offers from the Premier League giants.
Caicedo took to social media to tell Brighton that he wanted to leave before the window closed.
Speaking about the young man’s decision-making, Sutton said: “Moisés Caicedo is being very badly advised or he is an idiot.”
Sutton added: ‘That social media post was downright stupid. He has seen what Leandro Trossard did to get to Arsenal and he is copying it. But Brighton have every right to stand by their £80m valuation.
