Mikel Arteta revealed he has consulted Arsene Wenger on what it will take to win the Premier League title – with the blueprint ready on his ‘hard drive’.

Table toppers Arsenal go into tomorrow’s north London derby against Tottenham looking to win a first league title since their 2004 Invincibles side.

Ex-Gunners boss Wenger won the league three times during a 22-year reign at the north London club. Their last scalps were sealed 20 years ago on Thursday at Spurs’ old home, White Hart Lane.

And after dropping to Manchester City last season, Arteta has taken no risks.

He said: ‘I’ve spoken to him (Wenger) a few times. There were certain topics about how they won it and the later stages.

‘He always talked about that when I was a player. It is always on the hard drive.

‘At this time of the season it’s ultimately about finding a way to win the game – and that’s it. You can do it in different ways if you look at how they won the titles.

‘And how they won certain games by very, very, very small margins. That’s what he always talked about, about the small margins, and about who would step up on occasion to make that happen.’

The match comes as Arsenal have played four times in the past two weeks, while rivals Spurs have not played a single match.

In that period the Gunners lost two games – against Bayern Munich and Aston Villa – and won two.

Still, Arteta sees it as something positive.

He said: “I think it’s great that we’ve played four times and had great experiences in a very demanding week.

‘We have achieved very good results in the last two and that has obviously increased everyone’s confidence and belief. We are in a good place.

‘We are going to be completely ready for it. We also had some time to recover and prepare for the game against Chelsea. I’m sure the team will be ready again on Sunday.’
