Mike Cannon-Brookes: Loved-up Tweets From Atlassian Founder Before Splitting With Wife Annie
- Paar married in 2010 and had four children
- They announced their divorce last week
Mike Cannon-Brookes shared countless beloved tweets about his wife Annie — one of them in all caps — after getting down on one knee to propose more than a decade ago.
But the Atlassian co-founder’s fairytale romance with a fashion designer he met in the Qantas lounge has since come crashing down with news of a breakup last week.
Annie Todd met Mr. Cannon-Brookes on a chance encounter when she mistook him for someone else, but the future tech mogul managed to charm her and the couple eventually tied the knot in 2010.
The couple’s divorce, first reported by the Australian Financial Review on Friday, now raises questions about how they will split their estimated $19 billion net worth, alongside a $300 million property empire.
Following their 2009 engagement, Mr Cannon-Brookes tweeted, ‘GET ENGAGED THIS WEEKEND! Beautiful Miss Annie said yes!’

The Atlassian co-founder once shared beloved tweets about his wife
That same month, he said he was looking forward to dinner with Mrs. Cannon-Brookes after a hard day at the office.
“Tough day at work and it’s only Monday. People are not easy. Annie’s birthday dinner will cheer me up. That’s what family is for, isn’t it?’ he said in another tweet.
In February 2010, after their honeymoon, the businessman shared another beloved post.
“Back to work after marrying the wonderful Mrs. Annie CB and a six-week honeymoon. Wow!’ he said.
A few months later, he shared his hopes for their future together.
A great book for anyone who likes to travel and has children. I hope Annie and I will be a cool traveling family in the future!” he tweeted.
The co-founder of the billionaire Atlassian had met his wife during a chance encounter in the Qantas lounge at Sydney Airport
Ms. Cannon-Brookes was working as a fashion designer and was on her way home to Michigan when she bumped into the Atlassian CEO in the Qantas lounge at Sydney Airport.
He courted her by inviting her to an awards show and they soon became a close part of each other’s lives.
She now runs the House of Cannon label.
The couple married in January 2010 and had four children together.
As Mr. Cannon-Brookes climbed the Rich List ranks, the pair built a nearly $300 million real estate portfolio of mansions in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, Northern Beaches and the Southern Highlands.
The couple’s 3-acre Fairwater home in Point Piper, where the late Lady Mary Fairfax lived, was the most extravagant of their purchases.
They bought it in 2018 despite its intimidating $100 million price tag, which made it the most expensive house in Australia at the time.
It is unclear what led to the couple’s split. They share four children together
In June, Mr. Cannon-Brookes and his wife bought a $14.25 million home in Newport, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, adjacent to the $24.5 million estate they purchased in 2020.
The five-bedroom home sits on a 3,000-square-foot lot and features a 1,000-square-foot swimming area.
The home was also located three doors down from another of their properties, which were acquired in 2020 for $2.35 million.
The couple also spent $2.55 million on a fisherman’s cottage off Great Mackerel Beach on the Northern Beaches, which is accessible only by boat.
Ms Cannon-Brookes told a journalist in 2016 that she and her husband were ‘lucky’ to share the same goals.
“One of our biggest is to provide our children with as normal an existence as possible,” she said.
On their 10th anniversary, she shared a photo from their wedding day and thanked her husband for being her “forever partner in crime.”
The reasons behind the split are unclear.
“They are both focused on their children as their number one priority right now,” a family representative said. “They ask that their privacy be respected.”
