Today’s show host Karl Stefanovic ignored the biggest story in Australia on Thursday, the morning after footage surfaced of him intervening in a wild argument between his sister-in-law Jade Yarbrough and his good friend Michael Clarke.
There was no mention of the leaked video, recorded while Stefanovic and Clarke were on holiday in Noosa with their respective partners on January 10, at the start of the broadcast as he and co-host Sarah Abo ran through the day’s top headlines.
However, the altercation was featured in the early news bulletin on Channel Seven’s Sunrise channel, with Edwina Bartholomew giving a detailed summary of the incident shortly after 5:30am.

Stefanovic, 48, and Clarke, 41, clashed in a park in Noosa, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, earlier this month while on holiday with their respective partners, sisters Jasmine and Jade Yarbrough.
The melee is understood to have been over Clarke’s ex-girlfriend Pip Edwards, with Jade accusing the former Australian cricket captain of cheating with the PE Nation designer.
Dramatic images obtained by the daily telegraph Wednesday shows a shirtless Clarke being slapped by his angry girlfriend.

All hell broke loose after Clarke, Stefanovic and their loves were dining at a beachside restaurant with their famous accountant Anthony Bell.
‘I’m wrong? I’m fucking wrong! You are a fucking liar. Ican see everything. You called her,’ howls Yarbrough.
Clarke tries to reassure Yarbrough that she didn’t cheat on her and swears on the life of her young daughter Kelsey Lee that she was with Bell the night in question last month.
“Baby you’re wrong, you’re wrong,” he insists.
‘Baby, baby, Belly was in the house. I swear on my life, I swear on my life… That’s not true, that’s not true.

Clarke began a romance with Jasmine Yarbrough’s younger sister Jade in July 2022 (shown here in November 2022)
Clarke and Edwards dated on and off from June 2020 until December last year.
But Yarbrough does not believe his protests and claims that he spoke to Edwards.
‘You’re lying to me. You are a piece of s**t. I just talked to her. What’s wrong?’ she screams.
Clarke replies: ‘It’s not true, it’s not true.’
Stefanovic’s wife, Jasmine, finally intervenes, grabbing her distraught sister by the arm and leading her away.
“Stay away from Karl, go to Karl,” Jasmine tells Clarke as she unleashes her fury on Stefanovic.
‘Karlos, I can tell you now shit, don’t walk away. She can, she can hit me, but you idiot,” says Clarke.
The fierce argument between Clarke and Yarbrough in a public park in Noosa was filmed by shocked onlookers. (They are shown in Sydney in November)
This comment arouses the fury of Jade, who defends her brother-in-law before slapping Clarke across the face.
“You piece of s**t, don’t talk to him,” he yells.
Bell is heard telling the couple to stop, which falls on deaf ears.
“Go hit me, hit me… do it again, you’re wrong, you’re fucking wrong,” Clarke tells his girlfriend.
Jade yells, ‘Oh, am I wrong? you fucked up [Edwards] on December 17th, you fucked her… you’re a fucking dog… I’m going to show her every fucking message you’ve ever sent me.’
He then references a text message he saw on Clarke’s phone inviting Edwards to go to India with him.
“Oh yes, you’re the love of my life, Pip, come to India,” Jade groans.
Clarke replies, ‘Don’t ever talk to me again.’
Stefanovic and his wife Jasmine were forced to intervene in the ugly altercation
The two-minute clip ends with Jasmine and Bell separating the feuding couple.
“Stop, Jade, stop,” Jasmine pleads, to which Bell adds, “Stop it, Jade.”
The ugly altercation unfolded in front of nearby young children, according to witnesses.
A repentant Clarke has taken full responsibility for what happened.
I am absolutely heartbroken, I have put people I hold in the highest regard in this position. My actions in the lead up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable,” he told the publication on Wednesday night.
“I am devastated that by my actions I have brought women of class and integrity, and my peers, into this situation.”
His former partner Edwards distanced himself from the ‘debacle’ when he delivered a brutal blow to Clarke.
‘This is not my circus. Once again, Michael in his true nature has not taken responsibility for his actions and was blatantly lied to,” he said in a statement.
Clarke’s relationship with former partner Edwards began in June 2020, following his split from his wife Kyly, which they had announced four months earlier.
Michael Clarke dated Pip Edwards (pictured in happier times) on and off for 18 months before calling things off for good a year ago.
He and Pip had been friends for over a decade before that, but became friends while working on a fashion project together.
The couple separated in December 2021.
A source close to the couple confirmed the split, saying: “The decision was mutual. They are two best friends who decided to part ways as a couple earlier this month but are continuing their friendship.
After their breakup, Pip had an affair with Bondi restaurateur Cameron Northway for about four months, but that fell through and she got back together with Michael.
Michael and Pip recently attended a New Year’s Day party at the iconic Sydney Icebergs.
The batter was married to former model Kyly Clarke (née Boldy), 40, from 2012 to 2019, but the couple did not announce their split until February 2020.
The Clarkes kept their split under wraps for several months before she posted a statement on Instagram saying her priority was her daughter.
In a statement at the time, the couple said the “amicable” decision to separate was “the best path forward” for their daughter.
