Miami dad Jean Carlos Aponte slashed throats of wife, 38, and son, 2, after admitting affairs to spouse who accused him of sleeping with Colombian escorts and telling her ‘I broke ur trust,’ cops say

A Miami father of two has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife and son after admitting to having an affair before trying to kill himself, police said.

Jean Carlos Aponte, 40, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of his 38-year-old wife Sara Ashley Gama and their two-year-old son Ethan Aponte.

Gama and her son were found dead on March 26 in the family’s $850,000 home in Plantation, a city west of Fort Lauderdale in the South Florida metropolitan area. The couple’s four-month-old baby was found alive in a rocking chair as concerned relatives forced their way home.

According to an arrest affidavit viewed by DailyMail.com, the man and woman had sent messages about their martial problems on the morning of the murders.

Gama sent a message around 6:50 a.m. that read, “Let me ask you: What happened when you went to Colombia for your father’s funeral? Because there are a lot of escorts.’

Aponte replied, “I understand that I have betrayed your trust.”

‘You’ve destroyed a lot. It’s pretty serious. You also broke our wedding vows,” Gama said.

“I’m not a good person,” Aponte replied.

“And you only realize that now as you get to the Jesus moment,” Gama said.

The mother of two’s search history showed she had searched “just found out my husband cheated on me years ago” and “how does alimony work in Florida,” according to the affidavit. Shortly before the murder, she also visited the website of a divorce lawyer.

Court documents revealed video footage from cameras in the home showed the couple arguing before the attack.

A woman’s voice comes out saying, “because with your meetings and everything, you can’t have full custody.”

“So I hope those videos and everything you have and all that stuff from the Super Bowl in Germany where she was skinny and everything you wanted. I hope she was worth it, don’t come after my money, don’t come after anything,” the woman’s voice said.

“And we should have signed a prenup, we should have signed one.”

On March 26, Aponte failed to drop off the children at their grandparents’ home, prompting Gama’s parents to go to their home and check on them, according to the affidavit.

They arrived at the house and heard the family dog barking and the child crying, which made them think something was wrong.

When they entered the house, they found their daughter lying on the kitchen floor in a bloodbath and Aponte unconscious on the bedroom floor.

“Dried reddish-brown blood prints were visible throughout the bedroom, along with smudge or drag marks,” the affidavit said.
