The film follows writer James Foster (Skarsgard) and Em Foster (Cleopatra Coleman), a couple enjoying an all-inclusive beach vacation on the fictional island of La Tolqa, when a fatal accident exposes the resort’s perverse subculture. hedonistic tourism, violence and surrealism. horrors

In one of the film’s most shocking scenes, Mia, who plays the free-spirited tourist and actress Gabi, performs a sexual act in Alexander’s Foster, with the writer ejaculating and displaying his manhood on screen.

Other gory scenes show an Alexander clone being disemboweled and orgies, with the R-rated film called ‘The White Lotus, but for the sick’ premiering at the Sundance Film Festival.

Alexander himself said of the role: “Fighting a naked version of myself to the death and then being suckled by Mia…that’s not something you get to do very often as an actor.”

indiewire reviewer Ryan Lattanzio praised the “terribly unhinged” performances of the leads, but said that “everything feels bloodless, cold and sticky as a speculum.

“Despite the accumulation of blood, guts, holes, and d**ks in a hallucinogenic montage that pierces the strangely sleepy atmosphere of Infinity Pool, the movie is never quite as gruesome as it seems to confidently believe it to be.”

“There’s a psychedelic orgy montage laced with all sorts of body parts, James and Gabi going crazy on some kind of religious drug and beating each other up on ecstasy, which feels very similar to Possessor, where Andrea Riseborough suddenly had a penis. This is probably one of the times where Infinity Pool originally got its justifiable NC-17 rating.

On October 19, Bloody Disgusting reported that Infinity Pool was edited from an NC-17 film to a hard R-rated film.

Cronenberg is the son of iconic body horror director David Cronenberg, known for classic films like The Fly and The Dead Zone.

Infinity Pool will be released in theaters around the world on January 27, 2023.
