This is when a Mercedes driver was left red-faced after his attempt to avoid a traffic jam resulted in him getting stuck on top of a traffic bollard.

Comical dash cam footage captured the moment when the driver of the white Mercedes became visibly frustrated with Staffordshire traffic and decided to take matters into his own hands.

The driver, caught in traffic on the approach to Morrisons in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, left the traffic jam at a snail’s pace but somehow drove straight over a black and yellow bollard on a crossing island.

After seemingly failing to see the giant obstacle in his way, the driver flattens the traffic bollard and finds himself unable to save his blush by making a quick escape.

Instead, the Mercedes gets stuck on the traffic bollard and the driver spins the vehicle’s wheels at knots as he tries to drive away.

The driver in the suit then crashed into the traffic bollard (left) at a slow pace and got out of the car (right) when his white Mercedes got stuck on the island

After spinning the wheel for a few seconds, the driver in the suit can be seen exiting his flash car with a bewildered expression on his face.

The smartly dressed driver then attempts to assess the damage as a passerby casually walks by.

To make matters worse, as the embarrassed motorist tries to salvage the situation, a traffic jam ensues from the other direction, while the traffic jam he was caught in shortly before disappears.

Another driver who captured the footage on his dashcam uploaded the video to YouTube and said, “On my way home from work, I saw the slowest and craziest car accident ever.”

It is not known how long the driver was stuck on the island and whether he had to call for help.

Despite the faux pas, nearby Stoke-on-Trent is in the top 20 (18th) for UK cities with the best drivers based on recent data from One Sure Insurance.
