Melania hits back at ‘assumptions’ on personal matters but fails to mention Donald

Melania Trump on Tuesday hit back at “assumptions” about her stance on personal and political matters, but her statement did not name husband Donald Trump or whether or not she plans to support him during his impeachment and other legal inquiries.

In a brief statement posted on Twitter, the Melania Trump’s office noted, “In recent weeks, news organizations have made assumptions about the former First Lady’s stance on topics that are personal, professional and political. These articles cite anonymous sources to substantiate the author’s claims.’

“We ask readers to use caution and common sense in determining whether stories about the former First Lady are accurate or not, especially when not citing Ms. Trump as a source of information.”

But notably absent was any mention of her husband and the legal battle he faces in New York over a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels, who claims she had an affair with Donald Trump when he married Melania.

Several reports have said the former first lady stands by her husband, who has denied the affair; is angry; keeps busy, raises their son Barron; and plans to campaign with him.

But Melania Trump herself has not spoken so far.

And her statement — her first since Donald Trump’s indictment — still leaves many questions about her support for her husband.

She did not join him in New York when he was formally arrested and charged with more than 30 felonies. And she was notably absent when the former president gave a speech at Mar-a-Lago denouncing the allegations against him.

But she did join Donald Trump for Easter brunch at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday, marking the holiday alongside her husband.

She and the former president walked into Mar-a-Lago’s ornate ballroom to a standing ovation from the crowd, videos posted online showed. The couple sat alone together with red velvet ropes shielding their large table from the rest of the holidaymakers.

Melania was seen chatting to Donald Trump, leaning over to talk to him during dinner. Easter brunch at Mar-a-Lago is a tradition for the couple. Even during the Trump presidency, they spent the holidays together at the Southern White House.

Social media users posted pictures of the couple together in the ballroom. Mar-a-Lago organizes an elaborate Easter brunch for its members with a huge buffet of oysters, shrimp and champagne. There is also an Easter egg hunt on the club grounds for the kids with figures dressed as the Easter Bunny and other children’s characters.

It was the first time Melania had been seen at Donald Trump’s side since her notable absence from his speech on Tuesday at their Palm Beach home. In his remarks, he railed against charges against him for falsifying business records related to hush money payments he allegedly made to porn star Stormy Daniels and a former doorman.

The former first lady previously broke her radio silence online with a simple ‘Happy Easter!’ to tweet. message.

For Easter holidays, she wore a white dress with what appeared to be a floral pattern on the shoulders and down the middle. The former president wore a pink tie with his dark suit.

On their table were pink and orange tulips. Mar-a-Lago was decorated for the holiday with paper mache bunnies and pink roses.

Donald Trump seemed to have worked the ballroom. Several social media users posted selfies with the former president.

But 52-year-old Melania’s sighing was notable after she made sure to stay out during the most public parts of the Donald Trump impeachment.

She wasn’t with him in New York last week when he turned himself in to authorities and pleaded not guilty to 34 felonies.

Nor was she at his rally in Mar-a-Lago in the aftermath when the former president gave a speech with a special shout out to all of his children — but did not mention his wife.

Her father Viktor Knavs was on hand for the speech, sandwiched between the former president’s two eldest sons, while the former first lady was mysteriously absent. He sat in a prominent position in the front row putting him right in the eye of the cameras.

Instead, she’s been captured by social media users, who post and tag when they see the Trumps at Mar-a-Lago, which doubles as a private club next to the couple’s Florida residence.

On the evening the indictment was announced, Melania sided with Donald Trump in a very public show of strength that was captured by social media users.

The pair dined with friends at their usual high-visibility table at Mar-a-Lago.

The former first lady wore a bright red dress, which made her easy to spot by his side.

It remains unclear why she skipped his speech, but sources previously told DailyMail.com that she is hurt and angry over allegations that Trump had an affair with porn star Stormy Daniels.

The former first lady will have a year and a half to publicly hang her dirty laundry while the New York criminal case continues.

Those who know her well now say she chooses to stay out of the limelight to protect herself from the news of her husband’s infidelity.

Before the charges were announced last week, a source told PEOPLE that Melania is “living her own life” and “still feels happy” in Mar-a-Lago, but remains “angry and doesn’t want to hear” about the alleged $130,000 in hush money to Daniels.

Lauren Wright, a political scientist at Princeton University, also told DailyMail.com that she “wasn’t surprised that Melania was nowhere to be found at her husband’s post-indictment speech.

During the Trump presidency, when the Stormy Daniels issue came up, Melania would somehow assert her independence, avoiding the subject or, most famously, contradicting those who claimed her feelings about knowing about the alleged extramarital altercation,” she noted. .

And Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former assistant and friend, said she believes Melania’s recent silence and disappearance from the scene was intentional.

“It’s her weapon of choice and her protective armor,” she says.

Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been on the road. He was greeted to huge cheers in Miami on Saturday night when he took a front row seat at UFC 287 next to organization president Dana White.

Daniels was paid just before the 2016 election to keep quiet about an affair she’d had with Donald Trump a decade earlier — when the Trumps were newly married and shortly after Melania gave birth to their son, the report said.

Then-President Trump promptly denied everything.

At the time, Melania Trump, then the first lady, canceled her plans to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos with Trump. She was scheduled to go.

Instead, she visited the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC with her mother, then flew to Mar-a-Lago, where she took time to pamper herself at the on-site spa.
