Megan Rapinoe continues to face criticism after missing a penalty as the polarizing USWNT exited the Women’s World Cup in the Round of 16 on Sunday.
Rapinoe was one of two American players to miss a penalty kick as Sweden gave the back-to-back reigning champions its worst-ever performance at the tournament. Prior to the tournament, the USWNT was the favorite to win it all.
The OL Reign midfielder announced she would retire from international duty after the tournament and has been the figurehead of the most controversial team to represent the US in recent memory.
Rapinoe’s hyperliberal beliefs and attitudes — including a defiance of American patriotism and support for biological males encroaching on women’s sports — have propelled her to become the No. 1 on the team for many conservatives and others in the US.
Outkick’s Tomi Lahren joined Clay Travis and Sean Hannity on Fox News Monday night to discuss the end of Rapinoe’s successful, if controversial, career.

Megan Rapinoe caused both despair and glee from the United States with her PK miss
“When Megan Rapinoe spoke about the proudest moment of her career, she was talking about fighting for equal pay for what I assume would be women,” Lahren said.
But then she said from the other side of her mouth that she has no problem with biological men competing against women. So, which one is it Megan? Do you want equality and justice for women? Or is it only about your own salary?
“This woman is the epitome of selfishness and she made it very difficult to choose the United States and all of us.
“Don’t get me wrong, even if it’s Megan Rapinoe and others who decided to kneel for the national anthem. We still support this country.
“However, it would be nice if those women who wear the US on their jerseys loved the country as much as we do. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for Sean.”
ESPN bizarrely ran a function On Sunday, Rapinoe suggested kneeling for the national anthem and her critiques of the country were acts of “patriotism,” adding that she knelt “because she loved America.”
Rapinoe was seen laughing after her miss of a penalty – and again while with the family after the game – infuriating some USWNT fans. Aside from the World Cup, she has been drafted by Riley Gaines and others for her desire to see biological men compete against women.
“I think it’s very rich for someone like Megan, who is retiring, to say now that she’s okay with the sport being absolutely ruined and taken over by what could happen in the next few years,” Lahren said.

The 38-year-old (R) failed to inspire at the tournament and has long been a divisive figure
“Many more biological men who decided they failed in their own sports category and decide their retirement plan is to play women’s sports. So I think that’s very rich. But there’s something else going on here.
“You can be an activist, you can be a sports activist. We see it with LeBron and we see it with many others in the NFL, the NBA, the MLB you name it, there are activists but you have to be good.
And that’s where Megan lost and she fell on her face right there. You have to be good if you want to be stubborn and indulgent. And unfortunately she missed the mark on more than one thing.’
