Family of teenager killed in McGrath’s Hill car crash that also left his mate dead share powerful message for driver – as mother reveals her final text with her son

The family of a teenager who tragically died in a car crash along with his partner say they harbor no ill will towards the driver who survived.

Matthew Simpson, 16, and Addison Bhimjiani, 17, died at 9.40pm on Monday when their Nissan 200SX crashed into a utility pole on Windsor Road in McGraths Hill, northwest Sydney.

17-year-old P-plate driver Caleb Nolan was rushed to Westmead Hospital after suffering chest and internal injuries and is in a stable condition.

Matthew’s parents Melissa and Luke Simpson said their son was coming home from the gym when their friend, a driver, crashed the car.

“There is no anger, aggression or hostility toward him or his family,” Simpson said 7News.

‘They are also going through absolute hell.’

“A life sentence,” Mrs. Simpson added.

The devastated mother recalled her last conversation with her son.

“I said, ‘What time are you home?’ and he said, ‘I’m just doing shoulders, Mom, it won’t be long,’ and that was it,” Mrs. Simpson said.

Matthew is remembered as a kind and cheeky boy who cared deeply for his older sister and recently had her birthday engraved on his arm.

“He was the guy who would give you the shirt off his back and take the gum out of your pockets while he was doing it,” Simpson said.

‘He was proud as punch (of his sister), she meant so much to him.’

His sister Sienna said Matthew had always defended her and stood up for her, while his other sibling Jade described him as the “best little brother” she could have hoped for.

Addison’s mother, who also died in the crash, said her son had a “lively spirit.”

Penny Randall said her family will “remember and celebrate the joy” that defined her son’s character.

“Known for his vibrant spirit, kindness and infectious smile, Addison touched the lives of all who knew him,” she said.

“He was a beacon of light in our family and community, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled.”

Addison’s younger sister Brielle broke her silence in a heartfelt Instagram story Tuesday morning, with images of the couple as young children.

“Fly high to my big brother. I love you so much. I wish I could hug you one last time or see your smile. I will never forget that you were such an amazing person,” she wrote.

“Thank you for the time I had with you, no words can describe how much my heart hurts knowing you are not here to laugh and talk.

“I will miss you forever.”

NSW Police are investigating the accident.
