Shocking footage has emerged of two thugs brandishing a knife and threatening a McDonald’s employee before making off with money from the till.

Two people – one in a motorcycle helmet and one in a balaclava – approached the cash register of the fast food restaurant in Canning Vale, about 20 km south-east of Perth, in the early hours of January 2 this year.

The pair are seen lingering in front of the employee before they each suddenly pull out a knife and begin pointing at the employee.

Police allege the duo demanded the worker hand over money before putting the money in a backpack and fleeing the crime scene.

The police have released the images in the hope that someone can identify the perpetrators.

The duo had managed to completely cover themselves and they were both seen wearing gloves and long-sleeved tops.

One wore a red and black helmet with a black jacket and dark pants, the other wore a blue hoodie with a red balaclava.
