‘I was close to my house’: Maya Jama reveals that she was left fearing for her safety thanks to a stalker who once sneaked into an awards show posing as her brother to meet her
Love Island host Maya Jama revealed this week that she once feared for her safety after being harassed by a stalker.
Maya, 28, spoke about the terrifying events at the daily star, revealing that the stalker once showed up at her house and even crashed an event pretending to be her brother just to meet her.
Maya said it happened when she was in her early twenties and the obsessed fan texted her friend and roommate to say she was outside her house.

“He texted my friend who I was living with at the time and said, ‘I’m near your house,'” Maya explained.
She said that she was once at the Somali International Awards when he walked in posing as her brother.
“I hugged him because I assumed I already knew him,” she said, saying that he was acting creepy towards her.

Maya said she used to give more details about her location on social media, but has since gotten smarter.
‘After that I became more careful. It can happen to anyone,’ she said.
Maya has been in the spotlight for years, having hosted shows including Maya’s FIFA World Cup Cities, The Circle, and Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star.

She’s also had high-profile relationships, including with rapper Stormzy and NBA star Ben Simmons.
She now hosts the new season of Love Island, replacing Laura Whitmore.
It has been suggested that the producers plan to keep her on the show for a while as “she is now a major television force to be reckoned with”.
Industry insider Jonathan Shalit explained: ‘Maya is just fantastic – a true star and now a household name.
“She has nailed the role of hosting Love Island to the full and has proven herself to be a top-tier global star.
“She is now a major television force to be reckoned with.”
Meanwhile, a source went on to add to the post that the ‘electric’ launch was something ‘a marketer’s dreams are made of’ and will no doubt see many people rushing to watch the ITV2 show to catch up.
