Meredith Mickelson, Matty Healy’s ex, is said to have been ‘blindsided’ by the news that he was dating Taylor Swift just four weeks after their split.
34-year-old 1975 rocker Matty and 33-year-old singer Taylor cemented their romance when they were spotted kissing on a date in New York City earlier this month.
Musician Matty was still dating Meredith, 23, in February when he spent several days with Taylor at a recording studio, with Matty even staying with Taylor while he was in America and returning to her house after the recording sessions.
However, sources have said so Mirror that Meredith had “no idea” he and Taylor were growing closer, with the model reportedly telling her friends, “I hope he treats her better than me.”
A source said: “She didn’t see this coming at all. The whole time Matty was in the studio with Taylor, she didn’t think about it. He would spend the day in the studio and then come home to her.

Things were going well until around March 29th he suddenly stopped answering messages and phone calls.
“He just ghosted her and that was it. Then, four weeks later, he went public with Taylor.
“She was totally blindsided and of course it stung her a bit. She doesn’t want to play the victim and has no intention of saying anything in public.’
They added that those in her inner circle were “pretty angry” about how he treated Meredith, insisting that “he’s not a good guy.”

Matty and Taylor confirmed their romance when they were spotted on a double date in New York with Swift’s associate Jack Antonoff and his fiancé Margaret Qualley at Casa Cipriani on Thursday, May 11, as captured by a fan on social media.
A witness told Page six that Swift and Healy sat next to each other in the celeb hotspot’s lounge and “security was all around them.”
The source added that Swift and the 1975 frontman “hugged and kissed” as they waited for their food.

Swift and Healy sparked romance rumors earlier this month following her shock split from British actor Joe Alwyn.
Matt supported the Anti-Hero singer during recent stops on her Eras Tour, which kicked off in March.
Last week, it was first reported that Matty and Taylor were planning to debut their romance by bringing him onstage to perform several songs at her shows in Nashville.
Matty did perform on Saturday’s show with Taylor’s opening act, but remained in the audience during the Mean singer’s stage time.
Whether he will jump on stage again to perform with the Blank Space hitmaker remains to be seen.
Rumors of a romance between Taylor and Matty first came to light earlier this month, with a separate source telling The Sun that ‘she and Matty are madly in love’.
“It’s super early, but it feels good. They first dated, very briefly, almost a decade ago, but the timing just didn’t work,” the insider added.
