Matthew Perry’s actor father, 82, is seen arriving at his son’s LA home looking stricken just hours after the Friends star died aged 54 – and less than two weeks since the pair shared rare photo together

The father of actor Matthew Perry, who died earlier today, has been seen at his home.

John Bennett Perry, 82, was seen arriving at the home where first responders had been called earlier in the day.

Sources said he was found in a jacuzzi at the house, but no drugs were discovered at the scene – and there was no evidence of foul play.

Perry rose to fame for his role as “Chandler Bing” on the hit ’90s sitcom Friends, which ran for ten seasons.

His father John also starred in the 1998 Friends episode The One With Rachel’s New Dress, as Mr. Burgin – the father of Jennifer Aniston’s character Rachel’s boyfriend Joshua Burgin, played by Tate Donovan.

Recently, Perry delighted fans by sharing a social media post of him and his father.

In addition to his cameo on Friends, John was known for starring as ‘The Sailor’ in commercials for Old Spice in the ’70s and ’80s.

Matthew spoke candidly about his relationship with his father in his memoir Friends, Lovers, and The Big Terrible Thing, released last year, in which he shared that his father left after divorcing his mother when Matthew was a child.

Their long-distance relationship meant that Matthew mainly saw his father on TV, as he revealed: ‘That was mainly the way I saw my father when I was young…

“On TV shows, and you know, getting shot through a door at Mannix, or something like that. That is my father.’

In his book, the Friends star exposed the culmination of his terrible battle with drug and alcohol addiction, which almost cost him his life. He revealed that his colon ruptured due to his opioid addiction when he was 49.

The doctors gave him only a two percent chance of survival and he was in a coma for two weeks, followed by another month in the hospital.

Perry required fourteen surgeries to repair all the abdominal damage, and he admitted to going to rehab fifteen times over the years in hopes of kicking his drug addiction.

At one point during his Friends career, he admits he was taking 55 Vicodin a day and only losing 128 pounds, yet he still “didn’t know how to quit.”

He even revealed that he would go to open houses – not because he was interested in buying real estate, but to see if he could steal drugs from medicine cabinets.
