One man has been seriously injured in a massive explosion at a workplace in  Sydney’s south-western outskirts.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene in Millwood Avenue, Narellan shortly after 11.20am on Wednesday morning.

Multiple NSW ambulance and fire crews were deployed to the scene, along with a Toll Rescue Helicopter with a critical care doctor and paramedic on board.

He was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police have launched an investigation into an explosion at a workplace in Narellan

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman told Daily Mail Australia it’s understood the explosion was sparked by a worker using an angle grinder.

The explosion rocked nearby businesses in the industrial precinct. 

 Brian Cruikshank from D.C & O Services & Products recalled a ‘massive bang.’

‘I felt the shockwaves through the workshop,’ he told the NCA NewsWire.

NSW Police said inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the explosion are underway.

The incident will also be investigated by SafeWork NSW.
