Manu Feildel has responded to a critic of his new bistro.
The 50-year-old chef shared a photo of a negative review about his Bistro Red Lion By Manu on Instagram on Sunday.
“The noise in the bistro was so loud we could barely hear the people at our table,” began the review from an anonymous customer.
‘Food [was] “a bit bland and lacking in great flavor combinations,” they continued, before adding “the presentation of the scallop boudin” [was] ‘repulsive.’
“Please keep working on the kitchen. The wine selection was good. Kind regards,” the reviewer concluded.
Manu shared the review and added his own comment: ‘Thanks Karen!!!’
‘Karen’ is an informal term for someone who is perceived as spoiled or extremely demanding.
However, fans quickly turned against the chef in the comments on his post.

‘Oh Manu, jeez mate, you co-host a cooking show ffs where you criticize the contestants but you seem to have a problem with what counts as an honest comment mate.. sheesh… can’t handle the heat? Get out of the kitchen,’ wrote one incensed fan.
“The only “karen” is you Manu. The feedback seemed quite polite and constructive,” added another.
“I would be concerned why she wrote that the food was a bit bland. Would you mind checking that it wasn’t a general opinion? Possibly that dish was a let down for the evening,” a third commented.
However, fans quickly turned against the chef in the comments section of his post
Feildel previously ran four eateries in Melbourne and Sydney, but they have all since closed.
The My Kitchen Rules star launched ‘Bistro Red Lion’ last month at the iconic 196-year-old Red Lion pub in Rozelle, Sydney.
Manu’s new bistro is located on the top floor of the Rozelle pub.
It’s a new addition to a nearly two-century-old establishment that recently underwent a $1.5 million renovation.
Manu will run the restaurant together with his friend Jamie Gannon, who has been the director of Laundy Hotels, the pub’s owner, for ten years.
The menu features beloved recipes from his own family archives, which he himself described as “delicious, accessible food.”

“I want guests at Bistro Red Lion by Manu to forget the outside world and feel like they are dining in my home and enjoying a good bottle of wine,” he said.
In 2011, Manu opened his first restaurant, Aperitif in Kings Cross, together with Miguel Maestre, but unfortunately it closed after 12 months.
He then opened his own French bistro L’Etoile in Paddington, which remained open for six years until his work on MKR forced him to close the business.
He then went into business with George Calombaris’ MAdE Establishment and launched Le Grand Cirque in South Yarra, Melbourne, which lasted only four months.
In 2018, after a year, he pulled the plug on his restaurant Duck In Duck Out on World Square, which served a menu featuring only duck.
