A ‘maniac’ who kept a ‘sex slave’ in a ‘dungeon’ for 14 years and ‘raped her more than a thousand times’ has appeared in Russian court for kidnapping, rape and murder – while his mother, 72, also faces a kidnapping investigation.
Vladimir Cheskidov, 51, reportedly held a 19-year-old captive at his home in Smolina, Chelyabinsk region, where he lived with his mother.
Ekaterina B, whose full identity has not been disclosed, claimed she was raped repeatedly before escaping 14 years later at the age of 33.
His mother Valentina Cheskidova is accused of complicity in Ekaterina’s detention, according to Russian police.
Cheskidov, 51, also faces a criminal investigation into the 2011 murder of another woman he kept in the house. committee said.

Cheskidov was seen in court today for a custody hearing. He was declared fit for court after previously being held under armed guard in a psychiatric hospital.
His mother must be heard separately in Chelyabinsk about custody.
According to the victim’s testimony, Ekaterina was forced at knifepoint to dismember the man and dispose of Oksana’s corpse.
State detectives borrowed shovels from villagers and watched them excavate the grounds of the home the mother and son shared.
The top Russian detective Alexander Bastrykin, head of the investigative committee, has personally taken up the serious case.
Ekaterina escaped from the house after Cheskidov drank himself into a delirium and Valentina, fearing for her life, called an ambulance for him.
He failed to padlock the ‘dungeon’ where he was holding her, and she ran into the village, eventually finding her sister, Elena F, who had been searching for her for 14 years.
“She has started telling (me) everything,” the sister said, according to reports in Russia.

When Vladimir went outside, he tied her up, tied her to a beam and taped her mouth shut with duct tape, it is reported.
He gave her time off to do housework, and she was expected to clean, cook, and care for his mother—as well as provide him with sex.
The room where the woman was held was equipped with several muzzles, according to local reports.

Cheskidov was described as a “recluse” who lived with his mother, who once worked at a local psychiatric hospital.
In court, the judge asked Cheskidov – who is officially registered as married – if he approved of his lawyer.
“I have no money to pay,” he replied.
The judge explained that the court gave him a lawyer. He also disagreed with an attempt by the prosecution to bar the media from the hearing because of sexually explicit evidence.
