Manchester United target Victor Osimhen says he ‘doesn’t mind’ whether he stays at Napoli this summer or not, as the Nigerian striker adds: ‘the president decides and I’ll just go with the flow’

  • Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is an important player for Napoli this season
  • He has scored 26 goals this season as they secured a first Scudetto in 33 years
  • The 24-year-old has now said he “doesn’t care” whether he stays or not

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen has claimed he ‘doesn’t care’ whether he stays at the club this summer or not.

The Nigerian striker, who has scored 31 goals this season and helped Luciano Spalletti’s side to the Serie A title, said the decision would be made by club president Aurelio De Laurentiis as he would “just go with the flow”.

Manchester United are heavily linked with Osimhen, who is valued at around £130 million, and Real Madrid are also likely to be interested in the striker following the loss of Karim Benzema.

He ended his Napoli season with a goal in their last game against Sampdoria on Sunday, with many speculating that this could be his last appearance for the club.

However, the 24-year-old remained open about his future.

After being awarded the Capocannoniere for scoring the most Serie A goals this season, he told DAZN: “I don’t know, that’s for the president to decide.

‘I love the people of Naples, they have shown me so much love. It doesn’t matter to me, the president decides and I just go with the flow.’

“I really appreciate the Neapolitans, they deserve this and hopefully we get many more trophies.”

On his top goalscorer award, Osimhen added: “It’s a great feeling for me, winning the Scudetto, which is the most important thing in my career so far.

“I am thankful to God for this season, for my teammates, my family, for the Neapolitans and they all deserve this”

“This season has been great for me, my teammates and the Neapolitans. I think I’ve done so well this season and deserve all the good I have, but I feel motivated to do even more next season.”

Spalletti will leave Napoli after guiding them to their first Scudetto in over three decades. The striker paid tribute to the manager before previewing what the club could achieve next season.

He continued, “A great coach, a great man, he deserves this. He’s been a phenomenon, he’s the architect of a great season, his staff has done so well too.

“I wish him all the best in life and hope he enjoys time with his family. He deserves all this, coach of the year.

‘Everything is possible. Like when we started the season, a lot of people didn’t believe in Napoli. As the [resident says we can win it, I believe it, everything is possible.’
