Ten Hag was still wearing the clothes he wore on the sidelines during United’s win over Luton, when he appeared in La Famiglia in a gray turtleneck and black overcoat.

Despite the positive result, Ten Hag was was hit with a touchline ban as the pressure of Manchester United’s season became apparent during their performance nervous 1-0 victory.

Ten Hag received his third yellow card of the season after fiercely contesting two late throws during eight minutes of stoppage time at Old Trafford.

His dissent towards the referees, including referee Graham Scott, means the Dutchman will be automatically ruled out for United’s next Premier League match against Everton on November 26, in a clear sign of how things have been tested with the bottom team from their Champions League group after a midweek defeat to Copenhagen.

Explaining his outburst, Ten Hag said after defender Victor Lindelof’s second-half winner: ‘It was so obvious for about a moment, a throw-in, but it was the second time.

‘I was sitting on top of where it happened and was so clear and clear our ball, I made a comment and that got me a yellow card.

“There’s a certain point where you have to accept decisions, which I would have to do too.”

Ten Hag – whose other two warnings came in games against Arsenal and Spurs – joked that he would not fine himself because he only fines players if they receive red cards.

Elsewhere Ten Hag supported Marcus Rasford will be fine despite the Manchester United bad start to the season.

Rashford finished as United’s top scorer last season with 30 goals and was rewarded with a new £300,000-a-week contract in the summer.

But he has found the net just once in 15 games this season and reached a new low in Denmark on Wednesday night when he was sent off in United’s Champions League defeat to Copenhagen.

But Ten Hag again backed the failed striker and insisted Rashford would rediscover top form.
