Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for September.

The Red Devils have won their last four league matches in a row, two of which in September. United defeated Leicester and recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over Arsenal three days later.

Ten Hag is only the second United boss to win the award since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who took home the award in January 2019.

He beat Tottenham’s Antonio Conte and Bournemouth’s caretaker Gary O’Neil to be named Manager of the Month.

Ten Hag has revived his squad after the worst possible start to his reign at Old Trafford. They started the season with a 2-1 home defeat to Brighton before the humiliating 4-0 loss at Brentford.

Their morale-boosting win over Liverpool at the end of August was the start of a run of four straight wins for United.

United are currently fifth in the table, six points behind leaders Arsenal, but have played one game less after having postponed their previous two games due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Announcing the award on their Twitter feed, the Premier League captioned the post with the phrase “building his vision” as a nod to the work Ten Hag has begun at Manchester United.

The award marks an Old Trafford double, with Marcus Rashford named Player of the Month for his performances in September.

Rashford scored two goals, provided two assists and played in both United’s victories this month.

Bringing in the award is a timely boost for the 24-year-old forward as he aims to regain his place in the England squad from Gareth Southgate.
