Man who found missing Georgia dad dead wrapped in carpet reveals he ‘smell something rotting’

The man who found the body of a missing Georgia father wrapped in plastic and carpet in a vacant lot has revealed the horrifying discovery.

Nathan Millard, 42, was found Monday by an unidentified man after he went missing during a business trip to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on February 23.

In an interview with Unfiltered with Kiran, the man recalled the “stink” that brought him to the 2900 block of Scenic Hwy at 3:34 a.m., about three miles from the Irish pub. Millard was last seen at 11:30 p.m.

“It smelled like something was wrong or something was rotting,” the man said. uwk. “At first, I thought it was a dead animal, but I didn’t see anything.”

Millard, a father of five, was in the area looking for a job site for the construction company he worked for when he went missing. His cause of death is unknown.

The man who discovered Millard was driving north from Baton Rouge when he decided to stop and see where the scent was coming from.

As the man approached the abandoned carport lot, he came out with a flashlight to take a closer look. That’s when he saw the carpet behind a driveway, he told UWK.

“At first I thought it was someone throwing food, and then I saw the feet,” he recalled. “That’s when I really freaked out and my stomach was turning.”

Millard’s remains were discovered rolled up in a rug, covered in plastic, it was reported. Authorities said they could only identify his decomposed body through his fingertips.

“I was really terrified because I had never, ever seen or found a deceased person,” the man said.

Texas EquuSearch, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping find missing people, began its search last week and offered a reward of up to $10,000 for Milliard’s location.

A spokesman for the organization said 11 alive that police received a call from a passerby who called to report a foul odor in the vacant lot.

The father of five from Walton County, Georgia, had traveled to Baton Rouge for what was supposed to be a 24-hour business trip, his wife Amber previously said.

But after a Louisiana State University basketball game and drinks at the pub with his client from work, Millard never returned to his hotel room, which was only a few steps away. The room was reportedly not disturbed and he did not show up for a meeting scheduled the next morning.

Milliard’s phone was found near her hotel and her debit card was used after she went missing.

Surveillance camera footage showed Millard leaving the Courtyard Marriott where she was staying that night with her work client.

Millard’s wife, Amber, previously told WSB TV that he had FaceTimed her that night from the LSU basketball game.

She said there was no text from him when she woke up the next morning, which was unusual for the family man.

Amber also said police told her they had surveillance video of a person withdrawing money from their debit card at an ATM near a Greyhound bus station.

Police said there is an ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made.

‘This is an ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available,” police said.
