A third fan, after seeing Casemiro’s slip, added: “Olise sent Casemiro back to the favelas.”

Former Sheffield United striker Jan Age Fjortoft, meanwhile, took a swipe at Casemiro as he compared the Brazilian to a youth player.

Fjortoft wrote about X: ‘Casemiro jumps in as a youth player. Mainoo and Eriksen could not get close and tackle. And defenders who support like an amateur team.

‘Respect for the elegant Olise, but Manchester United’s defense is terrible’.

Crystal Palace doubled their lead five minutes before half-time thanks to a booming strike from Jean-Philippe Mateta before Tyrick Mitchell made it three.

The evening went from bad to worse for Casemiro when he was arrested by Daniel Munoz. The Colombian then played a pass to Olise, who smashed the ball home to give Palace four goals on the night.
