A Mallorcan taxi driver has been accused of attempting to rape his British customer and then dumping her by the side of the road with her clothes torn.
The traumatised holidaymaker called her parents and asked them to call the police before she was left ‘half-naked’ in an empty car park by the taxi driver between midnight and 1am on September 15.
Local police, working at Andratx Town Hall, found the British woman crying after receiving the early morning alert. They took her to Son Espases Hospital in Mallorca’s capital Palma for a medical check-up.
Both her dress and underwear were torn when officers reached the car park of the Camp de Mar holiday resort on the southwest coast of Mallorca.
Detectives from another police force, the Guardia Civil, identified the taxi driver who picked her up from a restaurant where she had eaten with her parents before staying alone for an after-dinner drink, by reviewing CCTV footage from the nearby Port d’Andratx district where she was picked up.

He was initially questioned as a witness, but was later told he would be investigated. He gave a version of events that a source close to the ongoing investigation said was “not accurate.”
He has not yet been officially arrested, but will now be summoned to appear in court. Well-informed sources confirm that he was fired after investigators informed the municipal officials responsible for taxi licensing in the area.
The taxi driver allegedly claimed the British holidaymaker was drunk and climbed from the back seat to the front seat of his car, then began flirting with him as he drove her back to a beach resort where she was staying about 10 minutes from her pick-up point.
He claimed he took a detour along the way and stopped at a rest stop, but drove away when he saw her calling her parents after they told him she didn’t want sex because he had allegedly “forced” her.

Last week, a man was arrested and two more men are being investigated after a British teenager claimed she was raped and sexually assaulted in separate incidents by a holidaymaker and two local workers, one of whom is a British man.
The suspect who was arrested was a 26-year-old Romanian tourist who lived in the UK and was staying at the same hotel on the island as the woman.
The 19-year-old woman whose complaint led to her arrest told police she was sexually assaulted after drinking in a pub in Arenal d’en Castell, Menorca’s fourth-largest resort on the east side of the island where most of the island’s attractions are located.
She is said to have returned to the hotel where she was staying with her mother ‘barefoot and in her underwear’.
The teenager also claimed that after the first incident, she was assaulted by two other men in the bushes between the pub and her holiday home, who she claimed took advantage of the state she was in.
A judicial investigation is underway.
