The sister of a Married at First Sight star has shared the ‘disgusting’ note left in her letterbox by a ‘cowardly, homophobic and gutless neighbour’.
Summer Irvin, Ashley Irvin’s sister, shared a photo of the letter to Instagram on Thursday which she said was a response to the pride flag she hoisted on the lawn of her Gold Coast home for the World Pride festival.
The letter claims to be from a neighbour who regularly walks by Ms Irvin’s Coomera Waters home in the city’s north.
A defiant Ms Irvin has since hit back and now vows to fly the controversial flag ‘all year round.’
Throughout the passive-aggressive note, the neighbour only referred to the flag as a ‘rainbow covered cloth’.
Summer Irvin (pictured, left, with sister Ashley Irvin, right) said the flag prompted a ‘cowardly, homophobic and gutless neighbour’ to leave her a ‘disgusting’ letter
‘Our community in Coomera Waters is a wholesome community, not a queer community, and nor does it promote queer conduct – especially to children,’ the letter reads.
‘As a neighbour who is proud to live in Coomera Waters and its wonderful community, I respectfully request that you take down the said cloth immediately.
‘Please be aware that my friends and me – with children – often walk along the Coomera Rive area that borders your property and hope that I/we do not have to be exposed to that which we find offensive, unsavoury, abhorrent, corrupting, divisive, outrageous and disgusting.’

The author then asked Ms Irvin to consider raising the Australian flag to ‘show patriotism as opposed to one that promotes queer conduct’.
‘Further, by displaying the said cloth you give the impression that we at Coomera Waters are accepting of such above mentioned behaviour,’ they said.
‘I assure you that we are NOT and nor do we want anyone to give that false impression which, it seems, you are doing.’
The neighbour tells Ms Irvin to avoid arguing that she’s inclusive ‘unless you are prepared to say that you include pedophiles and murderers’.

Ms Irvin was horrified by the letter and said she plans to throw a ‘drag queen party’ to prove the author wrong.
‘I am honestly shocked and disgusted. We are proudly flying the rainbow flag in our backyard and have received this abhorrent letter from one of our cowardly, homophobic and gutless neighbours,’ she said.
‘I honestly cannot believe people not only have these views but feel the need to express them in such a vile way.
‘I am so enraged and I am so sorry the LGBTQ+ have to experience this type of hatred.
‘This weekend I will be door knocking in Coomera Waters and won’t stop until I expose this absolutely horrendous human in our community.’
The majority of commenters under Ms Irvin’s post slammed the neighbour’s note.
‘Love how they’re so worried about “queer conduct” around their kids, but not hateful conduct,’ one person wrote.
Another wrote: ’90 per cent of children would look at it and just think it’s a pretty rainbow flag with no further thought!’

However, not everyone agreed with Ms Irvin’s enraged response.
‘Well, the neighbours clearly find the flag as offensive as you find the anonymous letter. Though, there is nothing to take offence to,’ one person commented.
‘They are entitled to their opinion as much as you are yours. You should welcome and respect their opinion just as you expect them to welcome and respect yours.
‘To do otherwise would be hypocritical. Preaching tolerance while being intolerant to opposing beliefs does not promote acceptance.’
Her sisiter Ashley shot to fame on Married At First Sight in 2018 alongside ‘husband’ Troy Delmege. They are no longer together but remain friends.
The former flight attendant will begin a new job at Gold Coast Hospital next month after recently graduating from the Queensland University of Technology.
