Australian boxer Lucas Browne has been sensationally banned from fighting rising British star Daniel Dubois, as the sport’s governing body in Britain refuses to approve the bout.

Browne was ready for a shot at redemption against highly regarded power punching young heavyweight contender Dubois, who recently secured the WBA ‘regular’ heavyweight title against American Trevor Bryan.

The heavyweight Aussie held on to the same title six years ago before a positive drug test meant he was stripped of the title and banned for six months.

However, his chance to reclaim the title against Dubois was foiled by the British Boxing Board of Control [BBBC] who judged he was too old to take part in the fight.

The decision has sparked outrage online, led by British professional boxer and two-time world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

‘Let the man fight. Luis Ortiz is 55 and Bernard Hopkins was 50. 43 is just a puppy,” Fury posted on Instagram.

Since returning from suspension, Browne has suffered knockout losses at the hands of Dillian Whyte, Dave Allen and Paul Gallen, bringing his career to a crossroads.

However, the 43-year-old bounced back with a shocking KO win over Junior Fa in June that put him back on track.

Browne announced the disappointing news on Instagram and questioned the decision.

“So here I am, finally getting some great news about possible fighting,” he said.

“I agree, Daniel wants the fight. Fighting for a WBA title again.

‘Finally getting the chance to fight for the WBA ‘regular’ title again.

“And all I’m hearing now is that the British Boxing Board of Control won’t approve the fight because I’m too old.

“So regardless of the fact that I started boxing at age 32, being a champion at age 36 with no amateur experience, I’ve had two great knockout wins.

“Junior Fa, knockout in round one. I currently have an IBF and a WBA regional title and a top 15 world ranking with the WBA, but apparently I’m too old.

Fury has thrown his support behind Browne, saying ‘let the man fight’ on social media

Browne got more emotional as the video progressed, saying he was “cheated again” by the BBBC.

“So you finally get the best news ever, that you can fight for a title and say on a sign somewhere, ‘Oh no, he’s 43, he’s too old, we’re not going to approve it.’ he said.

‘How sad is that? Wow. It’s not like I’ve been knocked over my entire career, I’ve had a total of three defeats.

Browne waves to Paul Gallen during their fight at the WIN Entertainment Center on April 21

‘How does this work? How exactly does this work?

“That guy from Australia is getting screwed again.

“That’s the problem with boxing, it’s money and politics. If you don’t have the money and politics to back it up, you’ll be fooled.

‘Unfortunately that has been my entire career. My whole career I’ve been fooled by everyone in boxing.’
