Love Island’s Shaq Muhammad has admitted he felt ‘betrayed’ by Tanya Manhenga after she was paired with Martin Akinola during Casa Amor’s explosive reconciliation.
The 24-year-old airport security guard was devastated on Thursday when his ex-partner, 23, returned to the main villa with new boy Martin, 27, while he remained single.
And in Friday night’s drama-filled episode, Shaq revealed that he doesn’t know if he can “trust” Tanya again as they deal with the fallout from Casa Amor.
The morning after the emotional reunion, Shaq and Tanya discussed their decision to get back together, where he said he wasn’t closing the door on their romance.
However, an upset Shaq shared his doubts, saying he felt she ‘threw’ what they had in his face by reuniting and admitted he doesn’t ‘trust’ her.
Furious: Love Island’s Shaq Muhammad admitted he felt ‘betrayed’ by Tanya Manhenga after she got back together with Martin Akinola following explosive Casa Amor reunion
Was over? In Friday night’s drama-filled episode, Shaq revealed that he doesn’t know if he can “trust” Tanya again as they deal with the fallout from Casa Amor.
Tanya acknowledged his antics at Casa Amor when she said, “We slept together in the same bed, he hugged me and kissed me, a quick kiss.”
Explaining his decision, he added: “I feel like I deserve to give myself a chance, it wasn’t like I went back to Martin and Shaq and I were done.”
However, a devastated Shaq said: “I meant it when I said I loved you and all the things I said about the outside.”
I felt so betrayed, I’ve been honest with you since day one and I felt like you took that and threw it in my face. I don’t know if I can trust you,” he added.
Tanya then insisted that she wouldn’t stop ‘trying’ with him while she meets Martin, but Shaq said, ‘You do your thing and I’ll do mine, and that’s the way it will be.
Speaking at Beach Hut, he added: “I want to be mad and I wish I didn’t have any feelings towards her and move on… but I’m in love with her, and seeing her hits me differently.”
Tanya later caught up with Maxwell Samuda and Martin about her conversation with Shaq, where she said that he needed to “separate I love you from the time I know you.”
After Maxwell walked away, Tanya spoke to a calm Martin and asked him what he thought after he said he was ‘processing’ while looking upset.
Upset: Tanya insisted she wouldn’t stop ‘trying’ him while she meets Martin, but Shaq said, ‘You do your thing and I’ll do mine, and that’s the way it will be.’
He said, ‘You had the talk, yes? Obviously, you guys had problems before, right? Is it a thing of when he fixes and I’m out of the picture?
‘I don’t want to be a springboard in your relationship. I don’t want to be like, I’m a test.
But Tanya insisted that each bomb is “proof”, adding: “Here, the people who come here are proof of what is already here.” You know what I’m saying?’
Shaq had previously spoken to Kai Fagan about Tanya and Martin and said he thought her body language with her new partner didn’t look “natural.”
Looking at Tanya, Shaq said, “She doesn’t even look natural, look at her, curled up in a ball.” She was never like that with me!
Kai told his friend that he thinks Tanya still likes him, saying, “I feel like she’ll come back to you.”
But Shaq admitted, “I don’t know if I could ever trust her again.”
Tanya had also expressed her fears about her and Shaq’s future after he said they were “over” during Thursday’s explosive reconciliation.
New Couple: Tanya later caught up with Martin about her conversation with Shaq, but Martin insisted that he doesn’t want to be just a “test” for the couple.
She asked her friends Samie Elishi and Olivia Hawkins: ‘She said it’s over, do you think she means it?’
When Tanya got back together with Martin, Shaq admitted he was “speechless” and insisted this was “definitely the end” for the couple.
When asked how it felt to see Shaq standing there alone upon her return, Tanya said: “I feel like Shaq and I have something amazing going on, so I’m not surprised.”
Turning the question over to Shaq, he said: ‘I just don’t have words to be honest. I’ve been honest since day one and I actually meant it when I said I love you.
But I guess not everyone means it when they say something like that. It is what it is. A game is a game.
Trying to justify her decision to the group, Tanya said: ‘From the beginning I was paired with Shaq and he was amazing.
But I feel like it would be foolish of me not to spend more time with Martin. But it’s definitely not the end.’
Shaq, clearly heartbroken, jumped in: ‘Well, it’s the end for me. So good luck to you, but that situation is done and dusted.’
Gutted: When Tanya got back together with Martin, Shaq admitted he was “speechless” and insisted this was “definitely the end” for the couple
Determined not to let her former partner end things there, Tanya said: “Personally, we haven’t had any speed bumps here like other couples have.” I hear you, but what has to be, will be’.
Lying in guilt, Shaq added, “I’ve been sleeping on the day beds out of respect for you.” It didn’t feel right to share our bed with another girl.
But that’s what you get for being a nice guy, I guess. They always finish last.
