David has doubts after Loughlin, an avid golf fan, uses ruthless tactics once she is allowed back into the club with David’s help.
Curb Your Enthusiasm executive producer Jeff Schaffer narrated The Hollywood Reporter Last month, the idea – which revolves around David’s fictionalized self constantly getting a second chance after mistakes – came from writer Teddy Bressman.
“It’s not going to be funny with some kind of thinly veiled surrogate” for David, he told the paper, adding that the premise only worked if Loughlin was involved.
Schaffer said of casting Loughlin in the episode, “We called her manager, who loved it, and who then spoke to Lori, and she said, ‘I’m in, I’m all up for it.’
‘And she was. She was so wonderful. Everything we threw at her was a game to her. She makes the episode. I’m so glad she wanted to do it.’
