Logan lockdown: Exclusion zone in Logan Reserve as police negotiate with potentially armed man

A man believed to be in his home with a firearm has surrendered himself to police after nine hours of negotiations.

Shortly after 12 noon on Thursday, following reports of disturbances, police arrived at a property on Chambers Flat Road in Logan Reserve, 25 miles southwest of Brisbane CBD.

An emergency was declared around 6 a.m., with residents ordered to stay home and officers directing traffic out of the area.

“Police have begun negotiations with a man who is alone in the home and is believed to be armed,” the police said in a statement.

Police made the statement under the Public Safety Preservation Act, with an exclusion zone encompassing Chambers Flat Road, School Road and Logan Reserve Road.

Included in the exclusion zone is Logan Reserve State School with students starting classes at 9am.

The public is advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone should stay indoors until further notice.
