The Minnesota native – born Melissa Viviane Jefferson – said: ‘B****! Thank you so much, thank you to Christian [Breslauer], who directed the video, Kenny. I don’t know what Music Video for Good means, but I do know what your vote means, and that’s a f***ing lot. Your vote means everything to me, it means everything to making a change in this country.
‘So remember, when you’re voting for your favorite artist, vote to change some of these laws that are oppressing us.’
Lizzo went on to address her critics as she defiantly said: ‘And now, to the b****es that got something to say about me in this dress — You know what? I’m not going to say nothing. They be like ‘Lizzo, why don’t you clap back? Why don’t you clap back?’ Because b**** this is winning ho!’

One wrote: ‘Lizzo has a net worth of 12 million dollars and is a media darling, whose immense girth keeps getting worshiped undoubtedly leading to kids everywhere living unhealthy lifestyles. Lizzo is not oppressed and is in fact actively causing harm.’
Another penned: ‘So oppressed she’s a multimillionaire and famous. Try traveling to some other countries around the world if you want to know what oppression really is. These speeches out of Hollywood are always some of the worst.’
‘Nothing screams oppression like than being given an idol made out of precious metals and lauded in front of millions. It’s a hard-knock life,’ a third quipped.

The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards brought together the biggest names in the music industry on Sunday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Lizzo arrived in a statement making dark blue dress. She was wearing Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture.
The singer stunned in the voluminous gown, which she wore with black lipstick and slicked back tresses for a dramatic entrance.
Her wet-look ‘do for the evening was created by celebrity hairstylist Shelby Swain, who used products from Matrix and tools from GHD to create the sleek look, revealing that she was inspired by the singer’s ‘mesmerizing’ dress.
‘During our collaborative meeting I was mesmerized by the initial concept of the dress. I wanted to implement the dress with something sleek and timeless yet edgy,’ Shelby explained.
To achieve that ‘timeless yet edgy’ finish, Shelby used the GHD Max Styler to pull the hair back, while the Matrix Vavoom Extra Full Freezing Spray locked the style in place while adding plenty of volume.
The GHD Helios Professional Hair Dryer added further volume, while the Matrix Overachiever Paste 3-in-1 Cream + Paste + Wax provided the wet look seen on the red carpet at the event.

Meanwhile her bold makeup look was the work of beauty pro Alexx Mayo, who used products from Charlotte Tilbury to perfect her dramatic red carpet cosmetics.
To prep Lizzo’s complexion for her long evening in front of the cameras, Alexx used Charlotte Tilbury’s new Glow Toner, as well as the Charlotte’s Magic Serum Crystal Elixir, Magic Eye Rescue, and Magic Cream.
Moving on to makeup, Alexx perfected the singer’s skin with the newly-launched Beautiful Skin Radiant Concealer, as well as the Beautiful Skin Foundation, Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder, and the Beautiful Skin Sun-Kissed Bronzer, before applying the Rock ‘N’ Kohl eyeliner in Bedroom Black to Lizzo’s lips for that edgy pout.
Following her red carpet appearance, Lizzo then slipped into a black gown with mesh panels to take to the stage and accept her award.
Lizzo beat out Kendrick Lamar – “The Heart Part 5”, Latto – “P*ssy”. Rina Sawayama – “This Hell”, and Stromae – ”Fils de joie”.
