Laverne Cox celebrates turning 51 in ‘mandatory’ vintage designer bathing suit and jacket on Instagram
Laverne Cox took to Instagram on Monday to celebrate turning 51 in a vintage designer swimsuit.
The Emmy-nominated actress modeled a bathing suit and jacket while celebrating her birthday with her approximately 6.5 million followers.
“Today 51 years old. Wow! Happy birthday to me. In this triumph or tragedy of the aging sex symbol, (you choose) the obligatory birthday swimsuit is vintage @dior from @jgalliano s/s 2001,” Laverne wrote in the caption.
‘And the jacket belongs to my beloved @manfredthierrymugler f/w 1985. Finding this jacket made me so very happy. Right now I’m obsessed with vintage. Maybe because I’m vintage. Lol,” she added.
LaVerne concluded, “I feel like it’s a miracle I’m still alive. To all my brothers and sisters out there, another day, despite all efforts to stop us from doing this. Stay strong!! Hold on!!!’

Laverne modeled the Dior swimsuit and Mugler jacket while wearing black heels and red lipstick.
The Alabama native played Sophia Burset on the Netflix series Orange Is The New Black from 2013 to 2019, earning Emmy nominations for her recurring role on the show.
Laverne’s comedy series Clean Slate with George Wallace has been picked up by Amazon Freevee, according to a September article by Deadline.
A release date has not yet been announced.
Laverne also stars in the upcoming sci-fi action fantasy film The Uglies starring Joey King, 23.
The film is based on the 2005 novel Uglies by Scott Westerfeld.
The Uglies is planned to be released exclusively for Netflix and a release date has not yet been announced.
