A friend of Representative Lauren Boebert’s teenage son claims an accident, in which Tyler Boebert was driving, left him with multiple concussions and a debilitating hand injury – and accused the political family of covering it up.
On Monday, Westword interviewed Noble D’Amato, 19, who was hospitalized with a concussion and a badly lacerated hand after Tyler, now 18, took a turn too fast and drove his father’s SUV into a creek bed at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 .
D’Amato claims the injuries prevented him from continuing his welding career.
“I still have problems with my hand,” he told Westword, a Denver publication. My thumb almost got cut off. It stopped me from getting a welding job because I can’t hold a TIG torch anymore. I am now a personal caregiver.”
D’Amato says the younger Boebert – soon to be a father – was “stone cold sober” at the time of the accident. “And he still twisted us,” D’Amato said. That shows how much he just doesn’t care. He drove so damn fast.’
D’Amato’s backpack contained nonprescription Xanax pills and a “silver marijuana grinder containing small amount of marijuana,” leading the 19-year-old to be charged with unlawful possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

“I remember waking up with blood pouring from my hand. I had put my hands in the air to protect myself and got very confused by the window or something. I was just glad I was alive,” D’Amato said.
Tyler, Westword reported, received a ticket for careless driving, which was later reduced to a ticket for “faulty headlight vehicle” after the teen accepted a plea deal.
He had to go through a court-ordered driving school called ‘Alive at 25’ and attend a court hearing on Monday, which is how news of the accident got out.
Boebert’s congressional office enraged D’Amato by issuing a statement to Westword, downplaying his injuries in an April 4 statement.
“The reported injury was superficial at best and was handled out of caution by medical professionals,” Boebert’s office said.
D’Amato said the statement was “bulls**t” and said it was likely the congressman trying to sweep the severity of his injuries under the rug.
“She never liked me,” D’Amato said. “But that doesn’t give them the right to try and hide the fact that I got hurt. They just don’t give a fuck. It’s the whole family.’

The statement from Boebert’s office also stated “two minors were involved in the incident,” which is incorrect, as D’Amato was 19 when the crash occurred.
When it happened, Tyler was still 17 and a minor, which is why his name was redacted.
When he turned 18 in March, the police report and the file became public.
Tyler’s father, Jayson Boebert, is listed as the owner of the black 2020 Ford Expedition he crashed into the creek bed with.
Westword reported that investigators said the 17-year-old “failed to make a left turn in the roadway and veered off the right side of the roadway” before going “into a creek bed” and doing “half of a rotation.”
Tyler told police that he and D’Amato were on their way to a “meeting” and that he was trying to look at the “pin drop” on his phone when the accident happened.
“I gave my friend a lift to a campsite or something and took the turn too fast and before I knew it it was too late,” young Boebert told police. “I locked the breaks [sic] and he slid across the gravel into the creek and then fell over.”
“Side airbags deployed and my friend sliced open his hand and hit his head,” Tyler said.
He told police another truck came by to help them and another car took them down to get service.
D’Amato was taken by ambulance to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and interviewed by police, where he told them he brought “a candy bar” — meaning Xanax — earlier in the evening, claiming that he had taken it “from got a Mexican’. a skate park in Rifle, Colorado.
Officers noted that D’Amato was behaving “worsened” on a fabric, as eyes were dilated and speech was rapid [and] incoherent to slow down [and] mumble.’
D’Amato insisted that Tyler was sober at the time of the accident.
“It’s the fame,” said D’Amato, that was the younger Boebert’s problem. “He doesn’t care.”
Since the accident, D’Amato has been working on his sobriety and getting others clean.
Tyler’s a good kid. I sure wish he and the family could take responsibility for what he did because I know it was not his intention. It was an accident. But that they play it down like that is another thing. Superficial injuries? I have multiple concussions. My thumb was almost chopped off. I couldn’t hold a torch. It kept me from getting a job as a welder,” he said. “So yes, harm was definitely done.”
D’Amato said that if it were up to Tyler “and he didn’t have his mom so aggressively influencing his mind — he’d take responsibility and not act like it wasn’t a big deal.”
“But he is Lauren Boebert’s son,” the 19-year-old added. “If I did what he did, I’d still be in jail.”
