Laura Byrne and Matty ‘J’ Johnson spent $2 million on a neglected home that is undergoing a massive renovation.
The Bachelor couple have added to their multi-million dollar property portfolio with the purchase of a property in Ulladulla, about 230 kilometres south of Sydney.
The dilapidated house has special significance to the couple as it is close to the Cupitts Estate winery, where Laura and Matt tied the knot in November 2022.
The cliff-top house offers sweeping ocean views and is aptly named Chante-Mer, which is French for “sing the sea.”
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom property is spread over two floors and last sold in 1984 for $62,500. It was previously belonged to a United Nations translator who died in 2021.
The dilapidated house spans 746 square metres and is surrounded by large glass windows, offering stunning views of Racecourse Beach.
The couple are planning to completely update the ‘old beauty’ to its old standard and confirmed the exciting news in an Instagram post this week.
“A few months ago we bought a run down old house on the south coast. A little glass house on the coast full of stories and history that had been empty and locked up for the past two years,” they wrote in the caption.

‘The South Coast is a magical place for us. We got married here and now we’re going to make memories here with the whole family.’
They have set up an Instagram page where they aim to keep their fans updated on the progress of the massive renovation project.
They have already shared photos of their daughters Marlie-Mae, five, and Lola, three, visiting their future ‘dream home’.
The reality stars currently live in a four-bedroom semi-detached house in North Bondi, which they purchased for $5.2 million in 2023.
They also have a stunning $1.8 million holiday home in Bangalow, near Byron Bay.
After getting engaged in Fiji in April 2018, Laura and Matty tied the knot on the South Coast in November 2022, five years after they met on The Bachelor.
They are one of the most successful couples on the show and welcomed their daughter Marlie-Mae in 2019, followed by Lola in February 2021.

Laura recently told the podcast I’ve Got News For You that their love story almost didn’t happen because she got “cold feet” the day before filming in 2017.
“I completely changed my mind and didn’t show up for the taping,” she confessed.
If you are selected [for The Bachelor]“You’re given a time and location, and that time and location are secret, to deter the paparazzi,” she explained.
‘I got picked up at 3pm from a random park in Alexandria. You had to arrive there with all your bags and then a bus would come and pick you up.
“And I remember it got to 3 p.m. and I was sitting at home and I didn’t have a bag packed. I just had a complete change of heart. I really didn’t want to do it; I was worried about what it would be like competing for a man’s attention on a reality TV show.”
Then she got a call from the producers who gave her until 10am the next morning to decide. That night she had a dream that changed her mind.
