The girl, whose identity is not known, was fed very little and could only go to the toilet in a bucket at her home in North Las Vegas, police said.

The 18-year-old’s mother, Addy Gonzales, and grandmother, Maria Pasarin, were both charged with child abuse and false imprisonment along with Daniel Omezcua.

Authorities were tipped off about a report of a teen “trying to use a ladder” to get back into her room on Nov. 4.

She had just returned from attempting to get food and water from a neighbor’s backyard before attempting to climb back up. That neighbor, who only mentioned her name as Maria, filmed one such incident where the abused teen snuck out.

A neighbor, who only gave the name ‘Maria’ 8 News Nowsaid the girl “got out and jumped to our backyard looking for water.”

The victim told ‘Maria’ that she climbed down with sheets and buttoning clothes together and eventually started drinking water from a garden hose.

‘Maria’ added that she told the girl to call the police, but she refused, ‘said no one would believe her’.

Another neighbor asked if she needed help, but the victim merely pointed to the ladder to get over a concrete wall back to her bedroom window.

When police arrived around 3:30 p.m., they found the girl near the window on the second floor of the house.

Gonzales, the girl’s mother, tried to prevent the police from entering and said she would check on her child herself.

An officer said she was locked in the room by a deadbolt lock that required a key to be unlocked.

The victim told police that her mother only feeds her once a day when she comes home from work. She told them she felt like a prisoner.

Police eventually broke into the girl’s room, where they found “only a box spring and a bed frame,” as well as the bucket, which was black and appeared “half full of urine and feces.”

Child protection had received eight reports of abuse in the home, but could not substantiate them due to a lack of evidence and cooperation.
