Lacey Turner says she would support her daughter if she faced teen pregnancy like EastEnders’ Lily

EastEnders’ Lacey Turner reveals she’d support her real-life daughter Dusty, 3, if she were ever faced with a teen pregnancy… like the on-screen character Stacey has with her future daughter Lily, 12 .

Lacey Turner is currently involved in one of the youngest soap opera pregnancy stories ever, as her on-screen 12-year-old daughter Lily (Lillia Turner) prepares to welcome a child.

And reflecting on how she would handle the situation in real life, the 34-year-old EastEnders actress has revealed that she would act similar to her character.

Putting it in the perspective of her off-screen family, the star shared this week that she would support her own 3-year-old daughter Dusty if she were ever in the same position as a teenager.

“It would give him all the tools and knowledge he could possibly need,” explained Stacey, who shares daughter Dusty and son Trilby, two, with husband Matt Kay.

This is a similar perspective to her character Stacey, who has been supportive of her young daughter Lily since the news of the pregnancy, which came after she slept with classmate Ricky Mitchell Jr, also 12.

Initially, Lily planned to abort the baby, but decided to go ahead after much deliberation, with mum Stacey and dad Martin (James Bye) by her side.

While EastEnders’ preteen pregnancy storyline initially drew attention, the cast and writers have since shared that the circumstance is more common than many realize.

“I think initially my reaction was the same as most people: ‘Wow, that’s young,’ but after doing some research, it happens,” Lacey shared during a conversation with The Sun this week.

The actress went on to say that she even received a message of thanks for raising awareness about the issue from a new mom at the hospital, who explained that she had met a 12-year-old girl at the hospital who was also giving birth.

Lacey added: “She wanted to thank us for highlighting the story and portraying what happens in real life.”

While her character has managed to stay strong and support her daughter Lily, Lacey was asked how she would handle the situation in real life.

Noting that it would be no different, the actress said: “I hope that if Dusty came home, I could explain to her how difficult it can be as a mother sometimes and give her all the tools and knowledge she needs.” she possibly she would need.

“I wish I made the right decision for her, whatever it is,” Lacey continued.

Adding to the importance of not having secrets between father and son, the actress explained that the show highlights this by showing that there is someone to talk to about these issues.

EastEnders is known for creating stories that break down the stigma as they tackle current issues and are prominent throughout the soap opera.

Off-screen, Lacey enjoys family life with her husband Matt, whom she married in 2017 in a private ceremony in Ibiza.
